August flew by at a blink of an eye. Poof and the 31 days were over before I knew it.  This month has been a busy month for me as I had spent quite  a lot of time reflecting and planning on what I want to do in the next three months. 2015 is fast approaching and I’m hoping to be able to complete all the goals that I have set out to achieve before the year is up. Wish me good luck!! Without further ado here are some  fun moment we had in August.

August was a month of celebrations as I celebrated my 36th birthday.  This year the kids and I had a fun day out with R as we visited the Alive Museum.  It was a real treat for them as they got to do funny poses and enjoy being part of the 3D exhibits.

I got my chance to literally “kill” the kids as they have been driving me up the wall lately. It was really nice to visually experience them almost getting the chop by the knife.

I was rather merciful with him as he had his last wish written down.  Can you guess which one was his?

Our family of five

Our family of five

Spending time as a family of five  is something that I really cherish. It’s not easy to find time to spend together as R is flying a lot for work.  Most of the time it is the four of us who are hanging out with each other.

Watching the kids growing up day by day I’m grateful that I’m given the chance to be with them as they experience the different milestones in their childhood. They can have an incredible amount of fun just playing scissors, paper stone. The two brothers can play non-stop if you let them be. They  will talk about anything and everything under the sun.  Currently they are fascinate with Grotopia and Minecraft. Two games which they play during their free time.

It has been quite difficult maintaining the delicate balance between the kids at home. Girl and boys really react and behave differently and what used to work with the boys doesn’t seem half as effective with the girl the third time around. Handing relationships is a really tricky business.  It can get rather exasperating at time getting the kids to behave and understand what I am trying to teach time.  They can really bring out the good and bad in you simultaneously. Some times I do feel jaded and wish that I rather be reading a detective novel then handling their squabbles and tantrums on a daily basis.

It is on days like this that I work on diverting my energies to being busy around the kitchen. It does help me ease up and reduce the amount of stress that I may have been feeling. Making noodles , soya bean milk, trying out new dishes and bakes give me a sense of achievement and also ensures that everyone in the family gets to eat healthily. I never regretted giving up my position in the rat race to be with the kids. I feel that I have benefited much more being with them watching them grow up.

Another month has just zoomed by and the kids have been back in school for about a month now.  Everyone is back to “School mode” and there has been quite a lot of surprises that happened this month.

First of I manage to complete blogging about our holiday to Hong Kong  last month. It was a fun but tiring trip due to the hot weather. Maybe in the future if it is possible we will schedule our next trip in December instead where it is cooler.

Playing at  an Arcade is certainly a lot of fun. The kids had quota filled with three trips to the arcade during our vacation.  Talk about playing to the max!!

Since the trip to the Hong Kong Science Museum  I have been doing quite a lot of thinking on how I have been living my life so far. The decisions that I have made and  how I aim to live a more purposeful life.

I shared about the 10 Underlying Principles to follow and how I am working towards a better relationship with all those around me.

July was a month of surprises which were both sweet and bitter.

It was great to receive positive affirmation from Monkey boy.  It’s one of the confirmations that I get from the kids that they appreciate what I have been doing for them and the family these few years.

I was also glad to meet up with some of my ex-classmates which I haven’t seen for the past 20 years since high school at the recent Alumni dinner.  I manage to re-connect with a couple of secondary school classmates and it was great to see that they are doing well and enjoying their family & work life.

I started a new series on the blog You & Me = US where I explore more in-depth the feelings and thoughts that I have been having.

Health is an issue that one should not take lightly.  Healthy eating and having more greens and fruits is certainly on my agenda.

This month we received the unfortunate news that R’s grandmother passed away. She was 96 years old and had been staying in an old folks home for the past few years due to ailing health.  We were sad to see her leave us but we know that she is in a better place now and free from the bodily pains that she used to suffer.
