Writer’s Workshop: Very Yummy

Grilled fish over garden salad
I have been doing quite a lot of cooking lately in bid to eat more healthy at home. Since being on the healthy eating challenge I’ve been experimenting with different types of foods which are both yummy and healthy.

Pan fried chicken over spinach
I’ve introduce a greater variety of greens and include more salad like vegetables like baby spinach to our diet.

Prawn Salad
When I am out I too gravitate towards ordering salads and request that they put the sauce on the side so that I can avoid taking in all the hidden sugars that normally come with the mayo or other dressings that they have for salads.
Fried beef with peppers
If we are dining out at a Japanese restaurant for dinner I would order just the dish without noodles or rice to accompany it. I’m currently on a LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) diet and have been cutting off sugars and wheat products in my diet.

Baked Cheesy eggplant and Almond Four bread with a side of bacon cooked at home
I find that I am doing much better in my weight lost management as compared to the previous months after switching to LCHF. The weight has finally started slipping off. (Even though it would certainly be better if the weight came off much faster!!)

Grilled fish with vegetables and mash potato.
Nowadays when I eat out I’ll pass the mash potato to Doggie boy to eat as he loves eating mash as it is too high carb for me.
What have you been having for dinner?

Oh yes, good for you! For years I cooked healthy and then life threw us a curve and we got off of the healthy eating. Everything looks so good!

Hi Dominique ~~ Good for you on the food plan. I can stop eating in good time but then I can’t stay stopped. Snacks or binges get me every time. I’m up five pounds, was eight. Negligible?
Is that a LARGE dumpling laying on top of your first pictured salad? I like dumplings, we went to a dumpling factory in China. They had unlimited sampling for us too.

@Jim,
It’s cod fish. Dumplings are really yummy I know.. there are so many different fillings in it . One of the best ones I’ve eaten so far were made at the restaurant Ding Tai Fung in Taiwan.

We eat a lot of salad in the Spring/Summer. I also like soup and today we had snow so it was a good day for soup. I long for Springtime to come and stay. You are doing so well with your food changes. Good luck as you continue this journey.

All your dishes look delicious. They’re inspiring me to stop and think about what I’ve done to myself these past few months food-wise. Thanks.

Love vegetables too. Sometimes, when we think we’ve had too much meat, we’ll go with a very simple vegetable meal.

We are eating lots of veggies too at home. We already made a major cut in a white rice intake and hopefully, it can make a difference soon.

I like the idea of putting the salad dressing on the side instead of pouring it over. I also try to eat healthy as much as I can. These food on your post looks really healthy and delicious. Thanks for sharing.

You have been eating healthy! Good job! I have fallen out from the healthy lifestyle for weeks now. I have been traveling and I felt I just need to eat to survive. My waistline did not lie. 🙁

@Tracy,
thanks for following the blog. I’ll be sharing more on my LCHF journey and any great foods that I’ve come across on the way. It takes time to reduce cravings like sweets but I’m sure you be able to do so. I’ve been on this diet for about 3 weeks and have lost about 2.5kg. Not as much as I’ve expected but the great thing is that I don’t feel so tired and have more energy since reducing sugar intake drastically. I’ve also managed to remove my craving for potato chips as in even though I go shopping and see them on the shelves I won’t even grab a packet anymore.
