Lovely to have Company

The boys playing a game together
Scissors, Paper Stone!! Let’s see who gets to hit the other person’s hand first.
Looking at the boys having a go at this game reminded me of the days back in my childhood where I too love playing this game with my sister. It was a great way to pass the time while waiting for the bus to arrive when we were out. The boys too love playing this game when we have to kill time waiting.
The only difference now is that with three of them it is a bit more complicated as it is harder to determine who is the winner and there is a high probability of the boys ganging up against their sister during the game.
Many times I will have to intervene and call for a time out if one of them starts complaining and even crying for being “bullied” during the game.

Tiger girl on the Kiddy Horse ride
Rushing for kiddy rides when we are out is one of Tiger girl’s favourite activity. I remember the boys too being crazy over such rides when they were her age.
My mum constantly reminds me that I too was equally fascinated over kiddy rides at her age and would go from one to the other if I had the chance to. My sister and I would drain all the coins she had in her purse in the process of getting our dose of fun.
Nowadays the price of a kiddy ride has increased ten fold from $0.20 to $1.00/2.00 for certain rides. I have been extremely reluctant to let them go on such expensive rides and they would bug me non-stop for it.
To make it more budget friendly to me, the kids are only allowed to go on rides which can either accommodate all three of them at the same time or take turns. The other alternative is for them to go on them without me placing any money in it to activate it.
It’s really interesting to know that the kids too do enjoy the things that I used to love when I was a kid.
How was it for you and your
own siblings growing up?

I like how your kids seem to be always playing outside! Like them, I enjoyed rides when I was young, too, but also like what you said, it was much cheaper then! 😀

We had those rides for my kids back in the 70’s, but I don’t think we had them when I was growing up. I kind of remember them being 25 cents. The price sure has gone up.

My daughter loves to ride the kiddie rides at our local farmers’ market. She loves them! I loved those rides as a kid – and she is sitting on the exact same ones I did. That’s what’s kind of amazing to me…seeing her sit on those and remembering myself riding on them. Bizarre and wonderful! And yes, they are definitely more expensive – fifty cents! Pretty sure they were a dime when I was growing up…

My son loves rides too. But I hate it when I was a child and until now. Maybe because I always have this motion sickness, hehe… I remember my youngest sister love rides while my brother and I hate it. Hehe

Isn’t it interesting how those games continue on from one generation to the next! I played paper, rock, scissors when I was a child…in the 1940s. Thanks for the memories.

Such adorable children and they know how to play well ~ ‘rock, paper, scissors’ was great fun and a great teaching lesson also ~ Happy Weekend to you ~

That’s really cute ride and surely every kids loved. We have a pony ride here at our local store and my kids always love to ride with it every time. Its FUN! looking at them gigling and smilling:)

My kids, too, love the kiddie rides. They have a small section of rides at the mall and they beg to go on them every time. As reluctant as I am I can’t resist. It makes them happy and gives them memories. Of course I do limit them to just one or two rides each, but it’s worth it to see the fun they are having.
You have adorable children!

These rides have gotten out of control! My son loves going to arcades and sometimes I’ll get $5 or $10 worth of quarters just to keep them happy…I can’t believe how quickly we go through it!

My grandchildren love those rides, and we make them a very special treat–not something they can do every time they see one.

Haha! I also only allow the kids to go on rides that can take at least 2 of them (baby girl is too young to “complain” yet) – so it is more cost effective! 😛

My kids are also missing out on those rides because they used to get free rides when we go shopping. But now, nothing seems to be free. Like you, I let them ride when all of them can ride altogether. As kids, I don’t get to enjoy such rides. Also, it seems that my sibling and I had so little in common, so we rarely play together.

My son also loves kiddie rides, but he loves play houses more. 🙂

I feel so lucky that my grandfather used to make those kind of kiddie rides, for a living. So my cousins and I were able to enjoy those things; from the fixed rides to the bump cars, for free! however, they’re no longer operating that business, so I’m now paying for my kiddos’ amusement rides, hehe!

That is a very good social ctivity for the kids. They are not limited to playing inside the house with a joystick/keyboard on hand.

I remember me and my brothers used to go on free playgrounds around the neighborhood. There is also this one spot where we always go whenever we visit our departed loved ones in the cemetery. Such fond memories!

I remember liking those rides when I was a kid. I really don’t see them anymore. $1-$2 is outlandish!

You can sure spend a ton of money on rides!
I’ve been known to ride a kiddy ride or two with my Grandlittles!
Maybe that’s extra value for the extra weight ! ha!
Thanks for a lovely post for the letter L.
