Highlights of July 2014
Another month has just zoomed by and the kids have been back in school for about a month now. Everyone is back to “School mode” and there has been quite a lot of surprises that happened this month.
First of I manage to complete blogging about our holiday to Hong Kong last month. It was a fun but tiring trip due to the hot weather. Maybe in the future if it is possible we will schedule our next trip in December instead where it is cooler.
Playing at an Arcade is certainly a lot of fun. The kids had quota filled with three trips to the arcade during our vacation. Talk about playing to the max!!
Since the trip to the Hong Kong Science Museum I have been doing quite a lot of thinking on how I have been living my life so far. The decisions that I have made and how I aim to live a more purposeful life.
I shared about the 10 Underlying Principles to follow and how I am working towards a better relationship with all those around me.
July was a month of surprises which were both sweet and bitter.
It was great to receive positive affirmation from Monkey boy. It’s one of the confirmations that I get from the kids that they appreciate what I have been doing for them and the family these few years.
I was also glad to meet up with some of my ex-classmates which I haven’t seen for the past 20 years since high school at the recent Alumni dinner. I manage to re-connect with a couple of secondary school classmates and it was great to see that they are doing well and enjoying their family & work life.
I started a new series on the blog You & Me = US where I explore more in-depth the feelings and thoughts that I have been having.
Health is an issue that one should not take lightly. Healthy eating and having more greens and fruits is certainly on my agenda.
This month we received the unfortunate news that R’s grandmother passed away. She was 96 years old and had been staying in an old folks home for the past few years due to ailing health. We were sad to see her leave us but we know that she is in a better place now and free from the bodily pains that she used to suffer.

All very nice positive thoughts. I will say that now as an adult, I’m fighting at least one of my parent for a lifetime of being controlling, selfish and just plain old wrong. I came to realize that they are used to getting their own way so that’s going on right now. I only bring that up because you mentioned being aappreciated for what you do for them. It’s kind of like Sidney Poitier in guess who’s coming for dinner, where he tells his father that he doesn’t owe him anything and he did what he was supposed to do. Sorry about the passing of a loved one. Looks like they lived a long ane hopefully very rich life.

Sounds like you’ve had a full summer already! I’ve had sometime for personal reflection, as well.

Our July had been exhausting but full of blessings. I hope August will be kinder but I know with all the activities line up, this new month will also be an exhausting one.

My July went by so fast that I wasn’t able to blog. It took most of my time at work.

I think you are starting a lot of great initiatives, Dom! Really awed by all your ideas and inspiration to write. I have been trying to blog less this month to get connected with those around me and spend more time with the kids and long lost friends too! I gotta go read all your HK posts! Not sure when’s our next hols but we are definitely looking forward! =) P.S: Sad to hear about R’s grandma, I hope she had a good and fulfilling 96 years of life.
