Doggie boy on the 1st day of school

January had really whizzed past. Doggie boy has been in school for about a month now. He has slowly got used to being in Primary One.

Here are my top 10 highlights of last month.

Port Dickson

1.I blogged about our holidays that we had in December to Port Dickson and Kuantan.

2. The kids had lots of fun too at Genting. They enjoyed the bumper car and train ride in the indoor playground.

3. The kids had lots of fun cycling at Pasir Ris Park. We haven’t gone cycling many times as the weather hasn’t been that good but on the Sunday morning the weather was perfect. There was a cool sea breeze the whole time we were there at the park.

4. I finally got around to baking bread. It is much more troublesome then baking cake but certainly worth the effort.

5. It was a blast from the past when I compared where I was 10 years ago with the present day. Some things have change while others have remained the same.

6. It was more sweet treats for me as I indulge in my favourite Chocolates on a Friday.

7. I talked about more about my family with 5 random facts about us. I’m sure that some of the facts on the post you would have least expected to know if you didn’t read that post.

8. The kids had great fun in their horse and carriage ride. It was the first time that they were riding in a horse carriage. We saw this ride after coming out of the Tin Min Museum while on holidays in Kuantan.

9. We had one of the most delicious curry prawn in coconut while on vacations in Kuantan. If only they had such nice food here in Singapore.

My Closet

10. It all wasn’t get food and fun vacations that was highlighted in January. I also gave a sneak peek into what I have stored in my closet.

Fixing Puzzles on a Monday

Tiger girl is really into puzzles these few days. She loves fixing the 3-6 piece pre-loved puzzles that I received from a friend a few weeks ago. Initially she took a while and lots of guidance to fix each small puzzle. Now she is able to fix all of the puzzles without assistant.

Looking at her gleeful smile when she completed a puzzle reminds me of the power of determination. With determination and diligence Tiger girl mastered the skills needed to fix a puzzle. It was a challenge which she manage to overcome and she was celebrating in the success of the accomplishment. We applauded her success and encourage her along to try more difficult and complicated puzzles that were in that set.

Among the set of puzzles that she has some had missing pieces and she started to get frustrated when she realised that she couldn’t complete those puzzles. I had to explain to her that it doesn’t matter. Those puzzles cannot be fixed/completed as there were missing pieces. She can work on the completed puzzles instead.

Like our own lives there are many different pieces which make up our own puzzle of life. Some pieces may fit in perfectly while others drop off and leave gaps in the structure. We may constantly find other pieces to plug up the holes or be contented with the puzzle as it is.

For me if the piece doesn’t fit I rather have it discarded and leave a gap there. No point hanging on to the rough edges and hoping that a square peg will fit through a round hole. I will be teaching her and her brothers to hang on to the things that fit and would complete her life while to discard the items that do otherwise.
