Curry Coconut Prawns on a Friday

Curry Prawns in Coconut
For the past few weeks I have been sharing photos about the food we at while on our road trip to Malaysia. Last week was on Dim Sum and the previous week I featured seafood and deer meat.Β Here is the last installment of the food pictures which I took.
It was the first time I saw coconuts being use as containers and also curry prawns being served in them. The dish was really yummy and I hope that I’ll be able to find the dish here in Singapore to savour again.

Tempura style vegetables
These tasted really yummy and crispy. It was different from the normal tempura battered deep fried vegetables that we have at the Japanese restaurant. Really wonder how this dish is made so I can try replicating it at home for the kids. They loved it and finished the dish within minutes.

Chili Noodles
This noodles were served to us at the market we stopped for lunch after visiting the Tin mining museum in Sungei Lembing. The dish was hot due to the chillies but really tasty.
What foods have you been eating this week?

The curry prawns in coconut looks really creamy and yummy. That’s the first I saw such dish inside a coconut. Usually deserts are put in it.

Curry coconut prawns? How cool are they?! I love prawn/shrimp curry, so if I ever see this on the menu, I won’t have to look at other choices. And served in a coconut, too? I am so there. =)

I’m sure the prawns taste as good as they look!

I love curry dishes. My greatgrandmother was from Malaysia who married a Filipino. The dish though in a coconut seems unique. Was the coconut meat grated or left there for a surprise?

@Farida,
Yup..there was coconut meat inside too which we could scrap off and eat after finishing up the curry.

They look yummy! Do your kids eat spicy food?
January 18, 2013 @ 5:03 pm
@Shook,
Monkey boy takes spicy food but the other two don’t at the moment.

I love how how the curry was presented! I might pass on the chili noodles (I am not liking spicy foods lately), but the vegetable tempura I’d surely eat.
