Foodie Friday

Tarts and Dinner on a Friday

Peach Tart and Apple Tart

Peach Tart and Apple Tart

Over the weekend we brought the kids out for tea time. They chose to eat  tarts instead of the usual slices of cakes which we order. I personally find tarts a bit too sweet for my liking and I’m keeping off eating them to reduce having unwanted calories.

I’ve been  trying to introduce more vegetables to the kids and learning to cook different types of soups for them.  In the above shot there is salad , boiled corn, winter melon with meatball soup, vegetable fried with fish cake and cucumber gratin. I’m trying out various traditional Chinese soups so that the kids will be able to savor a mixture of both Chinese and Western soups throughout the week.

What have you been eating this week?

Ice Cream and Cake on a Friday

Gelato for me and Coffee for R

Gelato for me and Coffee for R

I have always love eating Gelato since I was introduce to it.  It didn’t bother me that it was winter when we were on vacations in Japan last December. I still wanted my ice-cream fix and was happy to indulge in some strawberry and raspberry gelato even though it was cold. I’ve yet to try to make my own ice-cream at home but have heard that it isn’t that difficult to do so.

Tiramisu

Tiramisu

Tiramisu is another dessert which I love eating. I have made it a few times at home but besides R and I the kids are not keen on eating it.  Since embarking on a more healthy diet I have temporarily stopped baking cakes at home.

I don’t believe in totally abstaining from desserts however if I do remind myself that I should take extremely tiny portions if I do consumer any.

Do you like ice-cream and cake too?
