Fresh Bread on a Friday

Bread Fresh from the Oven
A few weeks back I decided to make good my promise to my friend V and Chef W that I will do some bread baking after completing my bread baking class in June 2012. I’m starting it slow by doing a Victorian Milk loaf bread as my first bake for the year.

Sliced Bread
It takes an awful long time to bake bread as compared to making cake. I had to prepare the poolish in the morning and wait till the evening before I could start on the bread. It takes 8hrs for the poolish to be ready and another 3 hrs for the bread to be proof and ready for baking. It was nearly midnight when I placed the bread in the oven to be baked.
It turned out great and the kids and R loved eating it with jam for breakfast the next day.
Have you been doing any baking this week?

This bread looks absolutely fabulous. I’m learning to do gluten-free baking, but it’s just not the same.

@Charlotte,
Looking forward to your gluten-free baking. I know it is more complicated but it is suppose to be more healthy and certainly essential for those who can’t take gluten.

It looks yummy. Wow.

Nope but I would love to learn how to bake too, like you 🙂
My brother is a chef and when he’s around he prepares dishes that are beautifully plated but are quite expensive. I guess, this is the downside when one learns how to cook. The ingredients you use are very costly, lol!

Yumm!! I envy you sis! I wish I knew how to bake.

That looks delicious! What is a poolish? Maybe the long time to make bread is the reason why my mom doesn’t make some since she likes to bake.
January 25, 2013 @ 1:50 pm
Poolish is a type of starter that is used to make bread. Learned it from the class I went to.

your bread looks very tasty…but why it took long hours to make?
January 26, 2013 @ 11:05 am
Looks really yummy. The long hours of making it is worth it right? I am looking forward to your baking adventures in the near future.
