Writer’s Workshop: From Last June to This June

Last year in June 2011 I was evaluating how  Monkey boy was faring in Primary 1. I wrote a short series on  Preparing for Primary  One and recounted my experience with my eldest  when he first entered elementary school. This year it’s time to prepare Doggie boy for Primary 1 as he will be entering elementary  school  come 2013.

I went on my 1st Trip without R and blogged about Ten Ways to Tackling a Holiday with 3 kids when I brought the kids to Penang, Malaysia

We celebrated our 10th Wedding anniversary with a dinner for 3 in Singapore

What remained the same

I’m still passionate about the same people as mentioned in My Greatest Passions

What has changed

Fast forward to this year we managed to go on a family trip with everyone to Korea and had a magical time at the Secret Garden at Everland. I’m posting on the blog daily and have added in giveaways in addition to reviews that I have done at Dominique’s Desk.

We celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversary abroad in Korea.  We have been getting around more this June as compared to last June. The kids  have been to the  Army Open House,  on the Singapore Flyer, Singapore Art Museum and Singapore Philatelic Museum.
I'm a supermom
I’m currently writing a series called Supermom 101 on how I manage it all- house, family and career.

How has it changed from you  as compared to June last year?

Do you prefer it now or back then?

Writer’s Workshop: The Book Reviews

This week I was thinking of writing about a book which I am currently reading called Test Sucesss- How to Be Calm, Confident  Focused by Ben Bernstein but I just didn’t have the time to finish reading it.  I’ll be sharing the books which I have reviewed so far

Kids book

From Janurary  to March I read the following books

1. The worldwide Dessert Contest by Dan Elish about how food comes alive and takes off instead of behaving themselves.  John Applefeller has been taking part in this contest for the past 10 years and never won it as his dessert  “bails” on him by turning into some different at the last minute. This book is cater to elementary age readers between the age 8-12 years old. (Click on the title above to read the whole review)

2.Cougar Cub Tales:The Sneezy Wheezy Day
This kids book talks about sibiling love  and how a brother and sister pair of cougar cubs went around looking for a cure for the sick brother.  In the end it was the sister’s love and concern for her brother that was the best medicine for his sickness. (Click on the title above to read the whole review)

3. Taming your Alpha Bitch
This book focuses on the female alpha and how she is oh so present in our society. You and I may  know someone like her or maybe her at some times. There are many handy tips on how to be less overbearing and a more likable person to your family, friends and colleagues. This personality is born out of personal limitations and inferiority which can be transformed into sufficiency and abundance. (Click on the title above to read the whole review)

4. Terrible Awful Manners by Beth Bracken
This book is aimed at teaching the importance of good manners to kids aged 4-6 yrs old. It uses reverse psychology on an ill behaved monkey to get him to stop displaying his bad manners. It’s quite a controversial picture book for kids. (Click on the title above to read the whole review)

5. EcoAmazons-20 Women who are Changing the World.
This is a book filled with 20 inspirational stories about women who went about making their environment a better place for all to stay in. Some of them environmental activist have founded non-profitable organizations which have benefited their community tremendously by creating new jobs and making their home a better place to live in. (Click on the title above to read the whole review)

6.Raising Amazing Kids
This book  explains to you why it is not necessary to make a dramatic change in your lifestyle. You can incorporate your kids into your new lifestyle and make changes to accommodate them. The greatest takeaway I got from the book is this
“Kids must learn early in life that you mean what you say and that your words are consistent.
Rules must be accompanied with consequences and the consequences must be consistent.”

What books have you been reading lately?

Do you have any books to recommend me?
