Writer’s Workshop: So Fun Travelling
At Tokyo Disneyland in Dec 2013
Traveling is what we like to do together as a family. Every year the kids and I go for a holidays during their semester breaks.
The waterfall at Karuzawa
Last year alone we visited Japan, Korea , Malaysia and Taiwan
Inside the cave on Jeju island, Korea
During our travels we get to visit various places of interest and the kids get a first hand experience of the different cultures and traditions of the countries we visit.
One of the beaches we visited last year
We visited caves, viewed various waterfalls, sun tan and enjoy playing with the sand at beaches and had lots of fun.
Doggie boy feeding a rabbit
The kids got to get up and close with nature which is not easy for them as we live in a metropolitan city here in Singapore.

Doggie boy trying out Extreme Adventure course in Phuket, Thailand in Dec 2012
Besides spending time with the family we get to go and try out activities which we don’t normally do like obstacles courses and visiting theme parks.
Fried seafood Kwey Tiao
Feasting and trying out the local foods are a must when we travel as we get to taste the finest of their local cuisine.
The kids are not really into spicy food but us adults love the selection we have in Thailand, Indonesia and Korea.
A photo taken from the Peak in Hong Kong
Hong Kong and China are countries that we do visit very often as R’s family lives in Hong Kong we go back to visit his friends and relatives. The kids too love Hong Kong as it is an eating and shopping paradise where shops are open till very late.
White water rafting in Cebu, Philippines in 2009
Cebu, Philipines is another place which we have visited. That was the 2nd time that I tried white water rafting and got sun burnt in the process. The previous time I did white water rafting was in Australia as a student.
The famous steps in Macau
Traveling to many different countries have allowed me and the kids to learn more about their history and be where many historical events happened in the past.
On the streets of Stanley, Hong Kong when Monkey boy was a baby
Going overseas also makes us appreciate what we have back home more and broadens our horizon.
Do you love traveling too?
Where have you been so far?

traveling and spending time with family is a best thing you can do. Great for the kids to see the world. I still travel with my family, even though I don’t have any children myself. We all know each other so well. Favorites places to see are museums and restaurants! {:-D

I love traveling! I try to visit 2 places a year. My country has a lot of beautiful spots. It might take me a lifetime to explore them all but that keeps me excited. Korea, Japan and China are on my wishlist. 😀

Travelling is something that’s missing in our life. Hehe. We don’t have much time to do that for now. Hopefully in the future we can travel here and abroad. By the way, you are so blessed to got a chance to go to those beautiful places.

Nice vacation spots you’ve found! I also enjoy traveling and I’ve been to many countries in Europe (I live in Sweden). This year me and my boyfriend are going to Norway and I’m really looking forward to it!

Your kids are fortunate that they started traveling with you while they are still young! My 17 year old son (only child) is also lucky to join me and my husband, whenever I have a continuing medical education trip. I usually time it during the Philippine summer season, so he can come with me, otherwise, he can’t join because of class.
He started traveling with us when he was 8 years old in Japan and at that time, he was already very responsible like taking care of his own luggage. When I am busy, my husband and kid bond! They have joined me in UK (England, Scotland and Wales), Dubai, Korea, Singapore, US, Germany (they also went to Switzerland and Italy while I was busy) and this year, to the US again.
We usually bond through road trips in Visayas and Mindanao, too. Soon, we might explore Luzon together. My son, indeed, has learned a lot of independence and wisdom because of the trips. When he was 13 y.o., he could already ride the Boston trains alone and we would just meet at the Apple Store… very good with directions.
I was wondering, though, if this is the reason he is less studious (maybe bored with some classes?)… I don’t know. But I used to ask him, “If you haven’t travelled as much, would you have been more interested in school?” He didn’t answer me.
Also, he eventually wasn’t looking forward to traveling, like to Europe… although, he still is excited about the US trip.

I love travelling, especially with my husband and son. I feel that whenever we go somewhere together, we are able to build important memories that make us stronger as a family. I wouldn’t trade these experiences for anything. 🙂

As much as I want to travel, time doesn’t permit. I wish I can have a week or month-long vacation to travel around the country first before overseas.
