Scallop Salad

Scallop Salad

In a blink of the eye we are now in September and in a few months time it will be time  we will be preparing for Christmas and 2017.  It is time again to start another reflection on how the 3rd quarter of  2016 has been going for me.

I can say that since putting down in writing my amended goals for 2016 I have been deliberately more focus on my health goals.  I remove myself from situations whereby I would be  tempted by unhealthy food and make a bad choice which I may regret later.

Tiger Girl's Birthday cake

Tiger Girl’s Birthday cake

Even though I focused on healthy eating more I did give myself allowance for treats like cake.

The cake which I could not refuse taking a bite from this month was Tiger girl’s birthday cake. This month she celebrated her 6th birthday and had a party with her friends.

I ordered this custom made Shopkins cake for her as she is crazy about this toy.  Doesn’t it look so adorable!!! Tiger girl was thrilled when she saw the cake and her eyes lit up like diamonds.

Trying out different foods with the kids has always been a enjoyable activity for us.  As the kids grow older they are more open to the different tastes available. Their increase in  curiosity  about the various types of dishes  and appreciation for fine cuisine has significantly magnified from the time they were toddlers.

Food placement is certainly very important when presenting a meal. Tiger girl was really thrilled when breakfast was served to her at the Hello Kitty restaurant at Terminal 3, Changi  Airport.

I had waited 5 months for the hype to die down before bringing her to this theme restaurant for a meal. It was certainly worth the wait as there was no queue and we had a quiet and cozy breakfast that morning.

Eating out is really costly here in Singapore so when the kids and I have most of our meals at home.  I’m still tweaking the meal composition to ensure that everyone has the right amount of carbs, proteins and other nutrients to remain healthy while switching the meals around.  Here was my attempt in introducing purple cabbage to the kids.

Fruit salad

This is one of my all time favourite fruity salad that only takes minutes to put together.  It has become one of my staple dishes which I have for lunch.
