Writer’s Workshop: Really Looking Forward- Visiting New Zealand

Hobbiton Exhibit at Terminal 3, Singapore Changi Airport

Hobbiton Exhibit at Terminal 3, Singapore Changi Airport

New Zealand is one country which I really wish to visit. R has been there a couple of times and I really love the pictures that he took of their scenery. The  snow capped mountain tops and the possibility to try out activities like bungee jumping and white water rafting.

Even though I have yet to visit the place the kids and I were fortunate to get a taste of New Zealand this  March school holidays when we  visited Changi Airport’s Terminal 3.

Since watching the show The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogies  in the cinema,  I have been having a fascination about this place called Middle Earth.  It was great that I was able to visit this second authentic Hobbit Hole which had been specially imported from Matamama , New Zealand for this exhibition.

Gandalf and The RING

Gandalf and The RING

Do you remember seeing this guy- Gandalf? The all powerful high wizard who help chase away all the bad guys who came after Frodo for his golden ring.  The kids certainly don’t know who he is as they just ran past the exhibit to the more interesting things to do.

They haven’t heard about Middle Earth, Gandalf or the places in Hobbiton Woods as they have yet to watch the shows.

What was more interesting then looking at the exhibits?

Watering the plants it seems as she was attracted to this watering can when she spotted it outside the Hobbit Hole.

The boys went in to the house and were caught having a go at this wheel spinning it.

They also had a go fixing this puzzle which they saw at one of the display areas.

The kids had a go at the golf putting range. It would certainly a visual treat if I do get to play golf among the mountains one day.

The kids skipped pass these exhibits and went straight for the most enticing one there.

The 5D Simulator Ride

The 5D Simulator Ride

This short ride was suppose to be thrilling for my adrenaline junkies but it fell flat according to their standards.  They found the trip through the stimulated roller coaster ride extremely passive and even the 4 yr old complained that it was not fun enough. Nothing beats riding on a real roller coaster I guess.

What was lacking in the ride was made up in ice-cream as they were treated to some yummy organic ice-cream at the end of the tour

Now is there anyone who wants to sponsor us air tickets for us a visit to New Zealand?

Writer’s Workshop: Quite Unfortunately it’s Not for Now

Pink Tulips

Pink Tulips

There are many things that I wish to do in my life. You can say that it is on my bucket list of things to achieve while I  am still physically and mentally capable.

Given the current conditions and situation that I am in at the moment it is not possible for me to achieve it as yet. I do not have the funding nor the luxury of the time on my hands to complete the task which I wish to do.

Here is a list of 8 things that I have been wanting to do but just can’t at the moment.

1. Getting my Masters

I really would like to further my education and go back to school. I miss the days I spent studying in the university. Even though  it would be certainly challenging for me as it has been more then a decade since I was last in school but I welcome the challenge.

I haven’t decided as yet though what type of Masters I would like to get. It’s still a tie between a MBA or a Masters in Education.

2. Learn the Saxophone

I always love this instrument and how sexy Kenny G looks playing it. Even though I do know how to play the piano and the violin but I have never really tried playing a woodwind instrument.  I don’t think it will be too difficult for me to pick it up since I already know the basics of note reading.

3. Take up a professional photography course.

It would be nice to be able to play around with a full frame DSLR with all the fancy lenses. To know exactly how to use it and have mentor who can guide me through it with hands on experience.

4. Take up a Japanese Cooking class

The kids and I love eating Japanese food and it would be great if I could make more Japanese dishes at home and learn the tricks on how they make their ramen broth so tasty. It would certainly help us save $$  as we need not eat out that often on the weekend when we have a craving for Japanese food.

5.  Learn how to do  Ikebana

The Japanese art of flower arrangement has always  been of interest to me. It’s really intriguing seeing how a simple arrangement can really jazz up the room and add character to it’s surroundings.

6.  Live and work overseas.

I would love a change of scenery  and move away from the tropical heat.  Staying here in Singapore  I long to enjoy the changes of climate which I had when I was studying in Australia back then.

7.  Spend a month touring around Europe

I love the scenery in that region and the varied architecture and landscapes.   It would be great to be able to travel to the various cities in Europe and experience their rustic charm.

8.  Experiencing Sky Diving

This is something which I hope to be able to experience. Even though I do have a slight phobia of heights but the adrenaline rush is what’s draws me to try it out.

What have you been putting off?
