A healthy marriage is essential for the stability of a family. If the parents are happy the kids would be happy too. What I have learned through my 12 years of marriage that it is hard work. In can be considered a full time job on top of your existing job(s) that you currently have. Marriage is something that both parties have to constantly work at to maintain. It doesn’t stop after the wedding and there are both periods of up and down which I have gone through. It is never all rosy or smooth sailing however the journey need not be such a bumpy ride.

Here are some tips for you on how you can maintain a healthy marriage.

  1. Make time for each other

It can be very easy for one to be caught up with work and caring for kids and start to neglect the needs of your spouse. Your attention used to be on him/her and rightfully should still be even though now you may need to share this attention with the other members of the family(kids). It can be very frustrating and depressing if one party is constantly neglected or not given enough attention. Relationships will start to strain if we do not put in effort to make time for one another.  Even a short 5 minutes with 100% attention on your spouse listening to him relating his day at work does wonder in enriching your marriage.

  2. Take time for yourself

Everyone does need his/her ME time. Sometimes you just need a little time to indulge in your hobbies or give yourself a treat. It will certainly leave you rejuvenated and ease the stresses of daily live giving you more energy to focus on your marriage.

  3. Set your goals and keep the romance alive

Having a common goal will certainly help your marriage. With both partners having the same focus it will be easier to relate to each other and communicate effectively. Leave little love note of set up date nights with your spouse. Every little thought counts.

How do you keep your marriage healthy?

End of Year Graduation Concert

This year’s end of year concert was extremely special for us.  It was Doggie boy’s last year in the school and Tiger girl’s first year there. Both of them were performing on stage and we were thrilled to see them in action.

Doggie boy performed twice on stage. During the first performance he was a yellow flower as part of a Chinese Speech and Drama play which the K2 pupils put up.

Malay dance

During his 2nd performance he was dressed in traditional Malay costume and did a traditional dance with the rest of his classmates.

I managed to get a clip of her dancing. Really proud that she was able to follow instructions and participate actively in the dance.
