During our recent trip to Taiwan  I had the chance to check out some breakfast cafes with Tiger girl. Here is one that we really liked.

Oven Cafe

台北市萬華區成都路55號1樓 Taipei, Taiwan

It was a really cosy place  and I loved how retro the decorations were at the cafe.

This huge teddy bear drew Tiger girl’s attention to the cafe and she happily walked in when she spotted it.

Our breakfast

Our breakfast

We ordered waffle with ice-cream and toast with strawberry jam for breakfast.   Both were extremely tasty and yummy and not really expensive as breakfast only cost us @ NT$300.

Beef Noodles

We took the subway to town for some shopping and decided on beef noodles for lunch. The servings were really huge and both of us were full after sharing this bowl .

( I didn’t take note of the restaurant we had our meal as we were starving by then .)

Steak with black pepper sauce

At dinner time I was craving for some steak so we went to the famous Mr Onion Steak restaurant which was located near we were staying.

The food was really very reasonably priced as a  7 course set meal cost only NT$550. There were 18 selections of main course + salad, bread, appetizer, soup, dessert and drink.

I didn’t manage to take pictures of all the different courses as I both of us were happily eating when the food arrived at our table.

Both of us were stuffed from our day of feasting .  It was really great to have a day to ourselves trying the various types of food that Taipei had to offer.

Birds and the Lake

Last week I brought Tiger girl with me to Taiwan on a short bonding trip. We took the High Speed Rail up to Hsinchu during the weekend to visit a friend.  She brought us to this beautiful lake which was situated near the Science and Technology Park where she worked.

The three red pagodas

The three red pagodas

These Pagodas were the most distinguishing feature of the lake from the car park.  They had glass roofs and looked really pretty with their geometrical shape.

The path way leading around the lake had trees providing canopy on both sides.  It was really relaxing strolling around the lake looking at the serene landscape.

Sparrows on a branch

We spotted three sparrows perched on a branch on the tree next to the pond. I had to zoom in close to get a clear shot of them.

Tiger girl spotted this large white bird with black beak in the same tree.  It was stalking the fishes which were swimming in the water below.

I saw another of the same species near the water. It’s really interesting that this bird has red eyes and different shades of grey for its feathers.

There was a traditional Chinese house at the other side of the lake . It had a lotus pond and also a small garden within its compound. Unfortunately it isn’t the flowering season for the lotus so I wasn’t able to capture any nice blooms with my camera.

Have you been to any lakes lately?
