Writer’s Workshop: Very Intense Heat

The sun a source of energy and light for the whole world. Without it’s presence our world will be engulfed in darkness and cease to exist as we know it. Even though it is an importance source of light and heat it can be unbearable at times.
Living near the equator in Singapore at 1.3667° N, 103.7500° E we experience the sun all year round. Sometimes it can really get overbearing with all the heat. This week alone the temperature has soared to 34 Degrees Celsius (93.2F) and it was really scorching hot. I have been wanting to get away to a place which has a cooler climate as I personally prefer for the weather to be in the 15-25 Degrees Celsius range. That would certainly be ideal for me to have this temperature all year round which unfortunately Singapore doesn’t have.
I can feel the rays of the sun penetrating my skin when I drive. The UV rays are really intense and wearing sun block is a certain must if you are going outside during the day. Dry heat is something which is still bearable for me but being in the tropics with the humidity levels of 80-90% it is both hot and humid. It can be stifling and suffocating outside especially if there isn’t any breeze.
You will find me hiding away in the comforts of an air-conditioned room if it was possible. Intense heat and me really don’t mix. I would literally melt in the sun or come back burnt if I was out in the hot sun for the whole afternoon. If I am unlucky I would end up with a splitting headache the next day due to the heat.
Do you prefer it hot or cold?
Does the heat give you a headache too?

Much as I’m sweating now that it’s summer, I hate being cold more. I cannot imagine living someplace where its cold with snow. I could visit and play with snow but I cannot live there.
April 17, 2013 @ 11:58 pm
The older I get, the more I appreciate warmth…

Hi 5. I can’t stand heat. I prefer cold to heat. I “melt” in the hot sun. However, my office air con is crazily cold that I feel defroze under the hot sun once come out of the office. That’s the time I love the hot sun

If only I could choose somewhere in between, I would. When we went to Singapore, it was really hot and much like the Philippines. Thankfully, we didn’t experience any rain when we were there. People say it will suddenly rain there, is that true?
April 18, 2013 @ 3:07 pm
Yes the rain can come very sudden and be extremely heavy that you be soak from tip to toe in minutes.
April 18, 2013 @ 10:33 am
I dislike intense heat too! But we currently have snowy and icy rainy weather so….it is a toss up today! LOL! I think Spring past us by this year. I am sad!
Good to see you here, Have a wonderful weekend,
April 18, 2013 @ 11:02 am
i prefer cold weather.. waahhh im not so much a fan of summer because of the heat we’re experiencing right now..
April 18, 2013 @ 11:17 am
We have the same weather….and the sweltering heat can be really unbearable at times. You are lucky you have an air-conditioned car…Imagine if you have to commute in that kind of heat…whew!
April 18, 2013 @ 11:18 am
I kinda love in between hot and cold, Spring!!..but to choose between the two I’d like the summer lot of stuff waiting outdoor:)
April 18, 2013 @ 12:06 pm
I like it hot! My dear friend lives in Singapore. Can I come visit?
April 18, 2013 @ 3:06 pm
@Annie,
You can come and visit anytime 🙂
April 18, 2013 @ 12:52 pm
It’s always hot in the Philippines. Spring would be a good weather.
April 18, 2013 @ 1:18 pm
🙂 Hi Dominique ~~ I like hot better than cold but our summers here are too hot for me if it wasn’t for air conditioning. Most of our part of Texas, in and out, are air conditioned.
No, heat doesn’t give me a headache. But the cold does.
..
April 18, 2013 @ 1:19 pm
In fact, today was too hot. But the weather people say it will be cooler by the weekend.
..
April 18, 2013 @ 4:12 pm
I like the warmth but if it’s intense heat. I’ll be turning on the aircon for the kids.
April 18, 2013 @ 8:28 pm
I like things warm. I don’t like things too hot or cold.
April 18, 2013 @ 10:31 pm
I would prefer that it is colder over warmer, though the winter has been so long, I am longing for some warmth from the sun!
April 18, 2013 @ 10:40 pm
Oh my goodness. I agree. The HEAT is driving me mad! -.-
April 18, 2013 @ 10:54 pm
I prefer the cold, but right now I am hoping for some warmer weather. It’s still snowy and wintery here….
April 18, 2013 @ 11:16 pm
I can take the heat depending on where I am. Beside the sea on a beach with a breeze, no problem. In Oklahoma, where temps would get over 40 celcius, with a wind blowing, no problem. In the city, where the air is stagnant – BIG problem!
April 18, 2013 @ 11:45 pm
I’m actually jealous. It was 17 degrees when I got to work this morning. I sooooooo am ready for warm weather!
April 19, 2013 @ 12:43 am
I love the heat. I remember the heat in Singapore well. The first week I was there I got a heat rash for the first time ever in my life. But I also remember the rain at 3:00 every afternoon and the lovely warm nights where you could enjoy dinner at Newton Car Park. You are so lucky to live there. I would go back in a heart beat.
April 19, 2013 @ 12:44 am
Hi there. I like hot weather much better. I am not into cold as you know from my last week’s post. Sometimes extreme heat bothers me, but I still would prefer the heat over the cold. Thanks for linking up this week, have a great weekend.
April 19, 2013 @ 12:48 am
That does sound unbearably hot! And, my, the humidity doesn’t help. Sounds like one big headache to me, too. I prefer it not too cold… and not too hot. I would consider moving to a place like that, but there’s too many people so it would never happen. Besides that, I would probably end up missing the 4 seasons that I now get.
April 19, 2013 @ 1:48 am
I’m more of a fan of hot. But not a humid hot. I like the dry heat of California.
Hope you can stay cool this summer!
April 19, 2013 @ 6:50 am
I am a personal fan of temperatures around 70 – 80 degrees F. I am not a fan of it being too cold due to arthritis and if its too hot I feel as if I am melting. Although if I had to choose, I would rather deal with the heat because of my arthritis.
April 19, 2013 @ 10:40 am
I cant stand the heat…LOL Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things hop xo
April 20, 2013 @ 8:41 am
I prefer spring and fall, detesting both extremes.
April 20, 2013 @ 9:12 am
I prefer not to be either hot or cold at any extreme. That’s why I live in Socal and can’t get out of it. Think it’s spoiled me but I am irritable when it’s hot and don’t like not being able to move much when it’s cold.
April 20, 2013 @ 9:37 pm
It is supposed to be spring here in Germany but woooo it’s freaking cold! I wish I could have packed tons of sunshine to keep us warm.
April 23, 2013 @ 11:24 am
I personally can’t really take well to cold, but with the intense hot weather these past weeks, it has also been giving me headaches! Also have been drinking water regularly throughout the day to keep my body cool.
April 29, 2013 @ 9:06 am
