Writer’s Workshop: What have you been doing lately?
Pink Blooms
Last weekend we had a long weekend due to the Easter Holidays. The kids enjoyed the extra day off as it translated into more play time for them. This year we didn’t go on any Easter egg hunt and there were no chocolates eaten.
I do believe that Christ has risen and that he had died for our sins however I do not buy into the concept of celebrating Easter with fanfare and splurging on so-called Easter goodies. Many religious practices have been commercialized over the years that they lose meaning.
We only celebrate Chinese New Year and birthdays and anniversaries in our family. We don’t celebrate Easter nor Christmas since last year as I do not see any meaning in doing so. The kids do not need to wait till Easter or Christmas to get treats or presents and they get these perks all year around.
What I have been doing with the kids during this period of time is to re-look at our relationship with GOD and each other. The boy are attending Sunday school and I have been reading up a lot on Faith.
We are learning how to relate better to each other and also change our routine around so that we can use our time more efficiently.
What have you been doing this Easter?

How refreshing. I don’t buy into the commercialization of Easter either. We spend the holiday with family and at church celebrating Christ and his saving grace. I enjoyed your post today. Stopping by from mama kats kelley at the road goes ever ever on

Oh yes, that is amazing. We actually celebrated all week, it being holy week. We talk with our girls about what is going on and why we do these things that way they know why we celebrate. It’s not about us, it’s about HIM.

Nice. We aren’t religious at all and my son doesn’t believe in the Easter Bunny, but we did gather with family and friends to celebrate the birth of our daughter on Easter Sunday.

good time to think about religion and not to roll Easter Eggs!
I enjoy hearing about the time you spend with your kids, and I’m sure they will grow up well loved! {:-Deb

Celebrating Christ is the best way to spend the Easter! It is sad that many people forget what Easter means.

We celebrate Easter – as a remembrance of what Christ has done for us on the Cross. I also use this to teach the boys about the crucifixion, and that it is not about the eggs and the bunny! Haha! But… they do make for good treats though. 🙂 Glad you had such a restful Easter!

I do agree that it’s not practical to celebrate Easter and Christmas with all the commercial aspects going on. It is important to reflect the true meaning of these occasions that are centered on Jesus Christ.

On Easter Sunday, we attended the Grand Easter feast at SM MOA. It was half day of worship, teaching and mass.
