Weekend Reflections: Trappings of Modern Motherhood
The bench
There are many things in this modern age which one can’t live without. Now in the 21st century everyone (including me) are highly dependable on our different gadgets to function. It we were living in the olden ages I really wonder if we would be able to do every as efficiently without our aids.
As a Mom in the 21st century I rely on the following.
- A smart phone. A mobile is not just for making and receiving calls nowadays. It has to be able to have calendar with reminder functions, budgeting and other apps to check e-mail, Facebook and Instagram.
- Caffeine. Not coffee but green tea for me. It does help to keep my current weight lost attempt in check and boost my level of energy.
- Kitchen appliances. To be able to cook a 3 to 5 course meal within an hour I rely heavily on the stove, steamer, oven, blender and airfryer to cook dinner.
- A virtual showcase ( aka blog) to keep everyone in the family updated on the kids growth and mark down all the different milestones and memorable moments that we experience.
- Google Docs- to manage the different work schedules for the various blogging campaigns that I have.
- GOD – to give me the strength to carry out all the tasks that has to be done within the day.
- Planning on the go- troubleshooting any problem which may suddenly arise during the course of the day

I concur. Your list matches mine and I add Skype and social media as a way I also communicate with loved ones and friends. Imagine how much things have changed! When I was growing up, all we had was a telephone, letters, and God’s many ways of reaching out.

if you don’t mind, how is your weight loss goal as of the moment? I also diverted into green tea rather than coffee for caffeine source.

If I were a mom four or five decades ago, I wouldn’t know how to cope. Just finishing the laundry is mind boggling lol

I agree with your numbers 2 and 6. By the way, the photo is very beautiful. It sure is a place to unwind and relax on a busy day.
