Writer’s Workshop: The Bed
The kids all together on the hotel bed during our trip to Penang in June 2011 (A year ago)
My boys are so not morning persons. It takes them ages to wake up in the morning. Only after countless reminders and threats do they move their bodies from their beds and drag themselves off to the toilet to brush their teeth and change their clothes.
Even though you have called for them to wake up they still give me ” Mum let me sleep a minute more” attitude. On certain days I literally have to yank them out of their beds and push them all the way to the toilet to freshen out. Sometimes more drastic measures have to be taken by taking out the cane to shock them into waking up.
On days when it seems impossible for them to wake up, this is the case for Doggie boy , I resort to stripping their pyjamas off him and putting him into his school uniform. It would only take me the most 5 minutes while if left to him would take like forever to get ready.
I personally too would like to laze in bed and sleep in till 8am-9am. However Tiger girl is an early riser and won’t stay in bed past 7.30am. Now I have outsourced to her to wake her brothers up every morning. It does help having an additional helper to wake the lazybones up.
Are your kids early or late risers?
How do you get them out of the house on time for school?

Hi Dominique 🙂 ~~ Cute kids you have here. It runs in my family here, to be late to bed and late to rise. Our daughter, Karen, now grown and working, needed a wake-up call to her every morning while she was in college.

When my kids were young, we really stressed a morning schedule with them. I think it may have been more of an OCD thing for my hubby 🙂
Have a great Thursday!

Hi there, my kids varies. The older ones stay up late and wakes up late. My littlest one likes to wake up early with us, but she can’t sometimes because she go to bed late. I really like for all of them to go to bed early and wake up early. I think people are much more productive in the early mornings.
We somehow, someway manage to get up early in the mornings and make it to school and work on time. While the event isn’t always relaxing, it gets done. 🙂

My daughter was a total late riser! I still remember one Saturday morning when she was about 16 she sauntered into the kitchen at about 11:45 am. I smiled and said good morning cheerfully. She replied “I hate it when people are so happy in the morning”. I just looked at her and laughed and said, “well don’t worry, because morning will be over in 15 minutes!” Now that she has small children of her own, that, of course, has changed. She’s up at the crack of dawn every day.

Posting from MK’s! Your kids are so cute. My toddler is an early-riser. If I’m lucky he will sleep until 7am on the weekends. The latest I can let him sleep is 6:40 on weekdays so I have time to get him up and dressed for school. Luckily, he is usually happy when he wakes so he doesn’t give me too much grief over waking him.

My three sound like your three. My daughter is a raging bear to wake up on school mornings. Now with summer break — they stay up late and sleep in later. I still rise pretty early so I treasure those quiet early mornings.

Just a year different, they look different!
My elder boy is early riser on non school days. On school days, he wakes up late and like to laze on the bed argh….
Brillant idea to get tiger girl to be the wake up call

Most of our grandchildren will wake early. But one granddaughter would sleep all day if we let her. giggle. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop xo

I don’t have any kids but I have such a hard time getting out of bed myself that I don’t know how grumpy I could get about potential children not getting up *L*
