20,000 Days and Counting: The Crash Course for Mastering Your Life Right Now by Robert D. Smith is the latest self-help book which I have read.

No Reserves. No Retreats and No Regrets

In the 3 sections of the book Robert covers stories by different individuals who died young but have lived their lives to the fullest.

All of them have these similarities in their lives.

– They are motivated to live life to the fullest

– They know their purpose in life

– They have a plan on how to live their lives.

Robert talks about going out and doing the things that matter most to you. Celebrate your achievements as and when they come along as they will help boost your confidence and keep you marching forward in life.

You decide

YES or NO

You, yourself are in charge of how you lead your life. To spend time meaningfully or simple to waste the time you are given on this earth. It is your choice how you want to lead your life. The mindset that you have victim or problem solver will affect your view on life.

There are many different examples given on how yo can lead fulling lives and it is not beyond you.

My thoughts

You never will find time for anything. If you want time, you must make it.

Charles Buxton British author b. November 18, 1823, d. August 10, 1871

I found this quotation in the book very meaningful as it is all in the mind to get anything achieved. Nothing is not achievable if we put our mind to it.

Planning without implementation is useless so it’s best to take action and to do it now while you are still alive. I like the prompt questions given in the 3rd section in the book. It gives one some food for though or how to live a more meaningful and action packed life.

It is important to find your strengths and work on it. Belief and have faith in yourself. There will always be naysayers around and people more then willing to put you down to stroke their frail egos. Experiences are sometimes overrated and I do agree with this point. What others experience doesn’t equate to what you will experience.

Their failures do not relate or equate to yours. It is up to you to create your own personal experiences, take chances to make your dreams come true and face fears head on.

It was a really refreshing short read and certainly inspirational for anyone who is seeking clarity in life.

There are quotations sprinkled in each chapter to give one a positive booster in working their way to a more joyful life.

One of the quotes that I read which started of the chapter on Losing yourself to the family really resonated to me.

“And while it’s part of human kindness to want to please others, nothing is gained if we lose
ourselves in the process.”
—W. Timothy Gallwey, The Inner Game of Stress

My thoughts

I feel that it is extremely important to take care of your own self even though you have become a mom. I can resonate with Julie on many levels as I too had my fair share of experience mom guilt and having stressful moments as a mom. It takes a consciousness effort to seek Joy in the things around you and take action to live the life that you want to live.

I agree if mom is not happy neither will the kids or anyone else at home be happy too. Everyone needs some down time and time to pursue their own passions to keep positive and motivated. Only when you know what you want out of live then you can live it to the fullest and enrich the lives of those in your family.
