Tiger girl and Daddy

Tiger girl and Daddy

Tiger girl is one lucky girl. The princess and baby of the family she is doted on by both grandparents and constantly showered with gifts. She has tons of pre-loved  and new clothes, toys, accessories and bags given by friends and relatives. She has much more material possessions than I had at her age and is still adding to her collection.  She is really showered with love from everyone of the family.

At a tender age of three she is a well seasoned traveler. She has been to  Bali Indonesia, Phuket, Thailand, Taipei, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea (Twice!!) and various  different states in  Malaysia.  She has traveled around in cars, buses, trains, planes and on ferries. She certainly has more chops on her passport then her brothers or even I had at her age.

Even though many say at this age they may not remember the various places that you may bring them too however seeing the joy on her face and knowing that she is enjoying herself while making new experiences is priceless.  She contributes to the family in her own helpful ways and certainly has brighten up our lives. You can say that she deserves to be “spoiled”.

Are your kids “spoiled too”

Do you believe in “spoiling” your kids at times?

Curious Critters Volume Two

Book Cover

Book Cover

Curious Critters Volume Two  is the 2nd book by David FitzSimmons that we have read.  Back then in 2011 when he launched Curious Critters Volume One I was already blown away by his astonishing photography.  In Volume Two he introduces other fascinating creatures which one may not normally pay attention to.

Monarch Butterfly and Indigo Bunting

Monarch Butterfly and Indigo Bunting

I love the vibrant colors of the animals and insects which he captured. Besides the visually stunning images each featured critter  tells it’s story in various fascinating ways. The vivid description coupled with the imagery makes the reader feel that the Monarch Butterfly or Indigo Bunting is just beside him as he reads through the pages.

The Indigo Bunting

I love to sit atop fence posts, bushes, and trees . . . and sing!
Sweet! Sweet! Chew! Chew! Where? Where?
Other songbirds complain because I repeat myself, but I enjoy saying things
twice, sometimes in very long songs.
Sweet! Sweet! Chew! Chew! Where? Where? Here! Here! Sweeter! Sweeter!
Chew! Chew! What! What! Sweet! Sweet!
Other males in our song neighborhood sound the same, but, if you move to a
nearby song neighborhood, you will hear different calls:
Chew! Chew! Sweeter! Sweeter! Chew! Chew! Here! Here! Sweet! Sweet!
Sweeter! Sweeter! What! What! Sweeter! Sweeter! Chew! Chew!
In flight I call to my mate or other birds with a buzzing
Zeeep! Zeeep! Zeeep! Zeeep! Zeeep! Zeeep!
And when I’m bothered, I say.

If you find it difficult to portray the sounds of the critters you can opt for the audiobook version and listen along while reading he book.

My thoughts

The kids and I really enjoyed ourselves reading this book. We learned a lot of new information about the various critters which are not common to this part of Asia. It was interesting to read about the different types of insects/ animals that can be found in the backyard on the other side of the world.

You can purchase the book from  the Curious Critters website or from Irish Publishing.
