A Visit to the Peranakan Museum
The traditional Kebaya blouse
Last month we brought the kids to the Peranakan Museum over at Armenian St. We haven’t been to this museum yet and thought it was a good opportunity to let the kids know more about their Peranakan roots. The kids are half Peranakan as I am while R is not.
A tea set
We saw many different Peranakan artifacts. I love how brightly colored this tea set is with intricate flower patterns hand painted on it.
A bowl
A fruit bowl which was used to decorate the coffee table. It would have looked great on any table with or without fruits in it.
A jewellery box
This jewellery box had beaded top which pattern was sewn in one bead at a time. It must have taken a really long time to sew the design with the colored glass beads.
Gold plated tea set
This tea set must have belonged to a rich family. I bet that it weighs a ton too!!
Earthen Pots
A set of earthen pots which were used to store treats/ preserved vegetables which were served to guest.
Have you been to a Peranakan Museum before?

I love to visit Paranakan museum. Love to see the things they used – be it clothing, shoes, accessories, utensils….
But my boys don’t appreciate. Kept pulling me away. What about your 3 R?

@Shook,
they were okay running around looking at the stuff.. R was on a free guided tour while I was in between listening to the tour and chasing after the kids which were happily going in and out of the different rooms and climbing up and down the stairs.
