Weekend Reflections: Taking a Moment
Yellow Grasshopper
Sometimes when we take in the scenery around us we normally look at the buildings and architecture around us and fail to take note of the minute details. Instead of looking up or at your eye level ,how about looking down for once? You will be amazed at what you maybe able to spot. A tiny colorful creature maybe hiding in some nook or corner waiting for you to notice it.
The kids spotted this yellow grasshopper while walking along the streets of Chinatown. It was perching on the window of a Chinese restaurant. I would have missed the opportunity of being able to capture the shot above if not for the kids alerting me to it. I managed to get up and close with it with the camera as it wasn’t frightened away by the kids. We were amazed by the size of the insect and it’s ability to remain prefectly still as we gathered around it looking at it in amazement.
It is really amazing how GOD has created this insect. You just have to look at it’s wing to notice how intrigue the pattern is on it. It is very rare to see a yellow and black spotted grasshopper as most grasshoppers which I have seen are green. It looks as if it was starring back at me in the shot above.
Have you seen a yellow grasshopper before?
Going in this weekend with your weekend reflections post in the linky below.

I agree about taking time to be still and also to reflect by noticing or just being quiet.
That is quite a unique color on a grasshopper. I’ve not seen that color before. And all the grasshoppers I’ve seen matched the grass and so by the time they jump away, I lose sight of them.
Have a good weekend 🙂

sometimes we failed to recognize the small things that why we can’t appreciate the big things. Like for instance this grasshopper, it has its own role on this earth, when we just pay attention to its details we will realize that God have him a unique personality so as recognizing the fact that we are all given a unique talents and skills:)

I haven’t seen a yellow grasshopper yet! Come to think of it, I tend to ignore these little insects and their tiny details because I am so busy! I think your post is timely by reminding us to take a moment

Very nice! I’d also be amazed to see a grasshopper along the city streets. I’ve seen some at the park, not that kind though.

I haven’t seen a yellow grasshopper yet. That one in the pic looks so cutie! I agree with everything you’ve said here. We always tend to notice the big things that we often overlook the small but more beautiful blessings. 🙂

I haven’t seen a yellow grasshopper before… it is now quite rare that we see grasshoppers. I remember when we were little, we would go around the playground in school filled with grass and try catching these grasshoppers… I wonder if kids still do this?

I don’t think the kids still do that. Just talking about my kids we only are able to bring them to playground/ parks during the weekend so they do not have so many chances to be around nature during the week.

Moments like that are perfect for learning a lesson. If we’re too busy to listen to our kids (which sometimes or oftentimes happen), we will miss something really special or important. Nice sharing, Dominique.

OMG! you’re a very brave mommy.
Thanks for the photo, this might be the closest I’ve got to a grasshopper.
It’s lovely =)
