Flashback of March 2016

March whizzed pass in a flash. The kids are back in school as term 2 has started. It is a more intense study term for them as they are facing mid year examinations at the end of this term.

I’m also back in school as the course that I enrolled in has started and it’s back to hitting the books and acquiring new knowledge which will help advance my career.  It feels strange being on the other side of the classroom as I have been  in the teacher’s role for the past 20 years.  It’s a whole new learning experience for me.  As a mature student now  I can say I understand more about the dynamics of a classroom than I did in my early years as a teacher.

Even though my schedule is much tighter now I still carve up time for my weekly mom- daughter date once a week. Tiger girl looks forward to this bonding time that she has with me and the yummy treats that come along with it.

I find that it is really important to create memories for the kids which they can look back on when they are older.

I believe in being fair to all my kids so the boys too get their mommy- son bonding dates. Their choice of comfort food is different from their sister. Doggie boy and I went on an ice-cream date at Bugis.  I initially wanted him to try the Monster Popcorn ice-cream that was sold at the shopping mall but he decided on an Oreo Slurry from McDonalds instead.

I find that 1-1 attention with each kid is essential in  building up their self esteem and helps in their emotional development. It helps  increase their confidence hundredfold when they know that the are able to get 100% of my attention without their siblings around.

Although it is important to spend time with the kids I too treasure my personal time without them.  It is my space to recharge myself by having uninterrupted time to plan my schedule, reflect on my week and analyse how far I have progress along in the various areas of my life.

How was your March?

  1. It is always nice to see this monthly post with all the special moments. As you said it is always good to have 1-1 time with all kids.
    Have a Great Day!

  2. I agree that we need to create memories while our kids are still young. Good thing that I only have one child so I don’t need to divide my time but I wish I have a girl for girl bonding.

  3. It sounds like you had a great month. Good luck with school. We had a pretty busy March too and ended the month with a family vacation to the warm sunny beach in Florida.

  4. Agree with you to create memories with the children! Great to know that you are back in a course to upgrade yourself. I hope I can find one that interest me too! My March holiday was eventful but ended with a bump. I was down with an infection .

  5. Oh, I remember going back to school for my Masters in Hospital Administration and also together with my husband… our class was a week a month and from 4-11 pm. Sad to say, it was our kid who had to wait for us before we could go home (he had no yaya so he was with our staff) and I think it was this time where we weren’t able to guide him in his schooling…. Never forget the bonding time with the kids.

  6. I totally agree with you on that 1-1 attention importance. I tried to do that with my kids (6) as often as I could. Great pics. I love the way you did that fork with the waffles!

  7. No matter how busy our schedule we should always find quality time to bond our kids. Kuddos to your kids to have you sis. God bless sa schooling mo 🙂

  8. Wow! Sounds like you’ve had a busy month. So good to know that you’re doing well despite the hectic schedule and still enjoy time with the kids and time alone! That’s awesome.

  9. I notice you are getting prettier and prettier 🙂 Anyway, the month was gone just like that. I had a busy month and months to come will just be as busier. I am looking forward to big projects. Crossing our fingers that this might be the answer to our prayers 🙂

  10. March was a busy month for me, loads of work at the office. But i love want I doing! Keep it up being their best mom.. ?
