Writer’s Workshop: Keep on Creating

Pinkie Pie Vs Rainbow Dash
I’ve recently been putting quite a lot of pins on my Hama bead craft board on pinterest. I have taken an interest in this bead craft as it allows one to be free to design and create without any restrictions.
I find that it is a great alternative to electronic games during rest periods in between studying for the kids and was really happy that the kids were willing to give it a try.
One only needs to have an idea of what he wants to create and go with the flow till the whole piece is done. There are many templates and samples available online and one has only to download and print out the patterns which they fancy.
This week’s Wordful Wednesday post showcased some of the items which the kids and I have recently created. We did Minecraft weapons and my little pony figurines.
The kids just needed to count accurately and put the beads in the correct positions on the board before fusing them together. The kids and I had great fun seeing our creations come together when we fused them with the iron.
It didn’t seem that difficult especially since we were following templates. We could innovate as we go along if necessary as we may not have all the required colors on hand or wanted something more to our taste.
As you could see the creations turned out pretty well and the 3 kids have been using the Hama creations in their own self directed play of Pinky Pie vs Rainbow dash.
They make great props for script writing and acting and I can incorporate learning into play. (Killing two birds with one stone)
Have you actually tried doing something which you saw on Pinterest?

I’m not very crafty. But I did make my boys’ Halloween costumes this past year based on Pinterest pins. It was actually a lot of fun.

@Kim,
I’m sure your boys must have loved your Halloween costumes. I don’t dare do sewing as yet .

I have actually..pinterest is giving tons of great ideas for crafty people, even for not-so-crafty people like me :)..I recently made a cardboard house for my daughter’s project at Pre-K after browsing on pinterest. It was super fun!

I love Pinterest, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually tried anything I’ve pinned! It works more as an inspiration board for me…

@Rocky Mountain Woman,
I’ve tried quite a few different type of pins. The food ones don’t come out like they should be the most. I agree that they are more inspirational for me for certain categories.

My kids enjoyed doing this when they were small. I like your ponies. Stopping by from mama kats kelley at the road goes ever ever on

Oh! Those My Little Ponies are super cute!
My daughter has a whole bunch of those beads and loves creating little figures from them. Lots of fun!

@Wolfsong,
they are really fun. My girl is asking for me to help her make a new pony each day. I’m sure we be running out of beads soon.

My son loves creating with those beads. He’s done Minecraft things too. And it’s easy for their little fingers to arrange the beads. My big fingers kind of knock them around! Lol.

Those are cute figures. The craft reminds me of cross-stitching. I can’t recall if I ever made anything I pinned to my boards. Hmmmm.

This looks fun and interesting especially to kids and teens. I do some craft too and get inspiration from Pinterest.

Those beads are fun! We haven’t pulled ours out in a long time. Thanks for mentioning you can find templates online. I think I’ll have to find some.

Saw this on your FB Dominique. I’m asking Daddy what are those so those are Hana beads. They are cute 🙂 I also love Pinterest and most of the times I search crafts and crochet ideas there.

What great detail in those bead projects! My kids used to enjoy those projects. My son made little sabers and other boy things and my daughter made rugs and girly things for Barbie.
