Weekend Reflections: Encouraging Creativity in Kids

Tiger girl on her plasma car

Tiger girl on her plasma car

Tiger girl turns 31 months old in a few days time. This few months her love for singing songs and nursery rhymes have increased by leaps and bounds. She does have an array of different songs which she sings but as of thee two weeks the favourite song of the week is “Wheel on the Bus”.

It can get really annoying an irritating having to listen to her singing the same song more then 20 times a day.  To make it more pleasing on my ears I have been encouraging her to think out of the box.

Why don’t we change the lyrics to the song?

Besides people do you think we can have animals on the bus too?

Asking her such leading questions got her thinking of what she can add to the song.

She has been doing alterations on the lyrics of the songs since I started questioning her.

Now the song has been changed to the following.

The Wheels on the bus (Tiger girl edition)

The Wheels on the bus go round and round,

Round and Round , Round and Round.

The Wheels on the bus go round and round all through the town.

The bubbles on the bus go Pop, Pop, Pop

Pop , Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop,

The bubbles on the bus go Pop, Pop, Pop, all though the town.

The Monkeys on the bus go ooh-ohh- Ahh-Ahh,ooh-ohh- Ahh-Ahh,ooh-ohh- Ahh-Ahh,

The Monkeys on the bus go ooh-ohh- Ahh-Ahh, all through the town.

The bells on the bus go ting -a-ling-ling, ting -a-ling-ling,ting -a-ling-ling.

The bells on the bus go ting -a-ling-ling, all through the town.

The pig on the bus goes oink oink oink, oink oink oink, oink oink oink,

The pig on the bus goes oink oink oink, all through the town.

The END!!

Do your kids change the lyrics of songs too?
