Insane Goals -March review

It’s time to review my goals that I made for March. After posting this on Astromama for the past few months I’ve decided to post this on my main blog instead to get a better accountability to myself.

Major Fail area

  1. It seems that weight lost is really not my area. It’s still stagnant and yet to edge towards my target weight. Falling ill in March really put my plans on hold as I didn’t want to further exhaust myself and nurse myself back to  health first.
  2. I STILL yet to draw up a teaching plan for the teaching of Japanese to the kids. I’ve yet to do up the flashcards which I have planed to do since January !!
  3. I’ve yet to start on Tiger Girl’s Photobook but I HAVE to do it this month as next month will be even more busy as I have to prepare Monkey boy for his impending exams.

What I accomplished in March

  1. I joined a few other bloggers and hosted nearly 10 giveaways . Dominique’s Desk Fanpage has more then 1000 fans now and steadily climbing. (1643 fans at last count). I’ve also seen an increase in the number of twitter followers and  a decrease in my A rankings. I’m hoping to get my Alexa ranking down from the current 113,660. It will be great to be down to 100,000. Even though it is important to build up the numbers I am not overly concerned about this and try to build this up gradually focusing on improving the PR ranking first.
  2. Planned and booked our first family holiday for the year to Korea. The kids can’t wait to go and now I need to really sit down and plan our daily itinerary of places to visit.
  3. Purchase a new wardrobe for the kids so that their shirts/jackets can be hanged up nicely and not be squashed in their chest of drawers.
  4. Signed up for bread making class to attend with my best friend. The first class starts this weekend and I can’t wait to learn how to make my own bread.
  5. Done 3 guest post for other sides and have lined up another few guest post spots to fill for April.
  6. Got more products to review and some for giveaways during March and am setting up a better blogging schedule so that I can spend less time online.

Soc: Keeping Kids Safe

Keeping your child safe.

The attempted kidnapped cases reported on Facebook and the newspaper has sent many parents into a heightened sense of alertness all throughout Singapore. Even though after verification that some of the reported cases were hoaxes it is still better to play safe then sorry when it comes to my kids personal safety.

I’ve recently taken out the child harnesses which I had used with Doggie boy back then when he was a toddler for Tiger girl to use. She is now at this stage whereby she wants to run around as doesn’t not want to hold your hand. It’s extremely dangerous when we go out as being so little she can be very difficult to spot in a crowd. Therefore for now until she is old enough she will be on harness when we go out.

The boys have been briefed about strangers and safety while being out in public places. I have highlighted the reported cases in the newspapers to them and we did a reflection on how they would have felt if they were in the shoes of the kidnapped boy.  There hasn’t been any scenario role play with them as yet but stern warnings to keep within eye shot and my reach when we are out to prevent anything from happening to them. I do know that child trafficking has been on the rise lately.

Many of these kidnapped kids  in China were being maimed and forced to beg for a living. It’s downright human cruelty and abuse just for the sake of exploiting others for money and it has been really difficult for the government to crackdown on such a syndicate.

The only thing which I can do as a parent and on my level is to be vigilant and  to teach my child to defend himself and how to be protect himself from such evil people.

What are you doing to keep your child/children safe?
