Weekend Reflections- Things are not as they seem
Carnivorous plant
Looks can be deceiving. Sometimes what we perceive can turn out to be extremely different from what we have in mind.
While at the Phuket Botanic Gardens we came across these carnivorous plants. I can’t really identify all of them as they were not labelled but the ones that I recognized was the pitcher plant.
Pitcher Plant
It was the first time that the boys have seen such plants. They were thrilled to find out that there are plants that actually eat insects instead of being food for insects.
If you do not know the above plants have a pitfall trap. They lure the unsuspecting insect into the “cup” by enticing them with sweet nectar. When the prey falls into the cup it is slowly digested by the plant as food.
Have you seen such plants before?

I love plants! But since I’ve been based here in the metro, haven’t had the chance to go and see a garden or check out some plants. Not even those in my backyard. Sigh!
