Weekend Reflections: What is your must have foods?
Do you have a must serve staple food in your weekly menu? Is there a must have food that the kids request over and over again? The boys love eating ham and egg. We serve this as one of the dishes for dinner quite regularly during our weekday dinners. It is fast and tasty to eat with rice or noodles.
The kids love eggs so I cookΒ variety of eggs for them throughout the week.Β Sometimes I fry the egg sunny side up, scrambled or have it poached. On other occasions I make chawanmushi if we are having Japanese food that evening. We normally have egg as one of the dishes together with a side of vegetables. The kids are not really meat lovers but I do make sure that they do get chicken and fish to eat at least 2 -3 times a week.Β I also try to ensure that they have a balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables.
I would like for the kids to try out a great variety of foods however they are not as adventurous and still quite young I am holding back cooking more spicy and differentiated foods for them to eat.
What do your kids love to eat?

I think it’s also egg. We never ran out of egg and we love it in the morning. But since my Mom knew that she has high blood, she limits her egg intake 3 times every week. But lately, I’ve been eating fresh lumpia I buy after I visit the gym for 4 consecutive days π

Yeah, we’re right there with you on the eggs. But, we like to do “breakfast for dinner” pretty often. Not sure how that little tradition got started, but I feel like I make french toast at least once a weekend, lol!

@Molly,

I am a big fan of cutting up fresh vegetables as often as possible and serving them with or before dinner for an appetizer. With a little dip on the side, they think they are getting a treat and gobble them down before they realize how healthy they are. π

My kids love to eat everything. They love their food spicy.
We always have pasta with red sauce once a week. Everyone loves that.
I’m always looking for something new to try because cooking the same dishes week after week gets boring!

I eat oatmeal almost everyday. I know that doesn’t sound fun but its my go to breakfast because the ingredients are always here. Otherwise we are a chicken this and chicken that – “What for dinner” – “Chicken” family. π

My house would not survive without oatmeal. My 3-yr-old son would eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner EVERY day if you’d let him. I’m glad he’s fallen in love with something so healthy (he likes the original).
