10 Things we did this Chinese New Year
Yesterday we celebrated the first day of the Year of The Dragon. The kids were dressed up in their traditional Chinese costumes before we left the house.
Here is a list of ten thing we did on the 1st day of Chinese New Year
- Visit church and attend the Chinese New Year Mass
- Eat the blessed oranges that we received from church.
- Pay respects to the elders by wishing them happy Chinese New Year, best of health and other auspicious sayings.
- Exchange oranges with relatives we visited.
- Distribute red packets to the children, nephews and nieces. The kids were extremely happy as they were the recipients of the red packets.
- Savor the various CNY tidbits like almond cookies, roasted meats and tarts.
- Take part in the annual “Lao Yu Sheng” for good luck.
- Play cards with the kids/cousins.
- Catch up with relatives that we haven’t seen in a long time.
- Watch the countdown and CNY fireworks on TV .
This week being Chinese New Year I’m sharing a Chinese New Year Song with you.
