SOC: Enjoying the Roses at Everland, Korea

white roses

This week we visited Everland Theme Park in  Seoul, South Korea.   There was a rose festival on and we were glad to be able to view the hundreds of roses on display in the gardens.

Roses are on of my favourite flowers and it was really wonderful to be able to view so many in the same place. The last time I viewed roses was during our trip in Taiwan when we visited the Botanic Gardens at TaiChung in Feburary.

I love the bushes of  roses that were all around us and that they were all in full bloom.  I could smell the lovely scents which each rose emitted and it really beats seeing cut roses in a store.

It’s always great to have the time to spend some time to admire and smell the roses. To leave all the worries and  troubles behind momentarily while soaking in the moment.  To enjoy spending time with love ones and family.

Have you had the time to stop and smell the roses?

SOC: Social Media, Alexa Rankings and Increasing Stats.

This week I’m answering Fadra’s questions on
What feels overwhelming to you right now and how are you coping?

I have been thinking a lot about how to bring the blog up a notch. I’ve been actively blogging since being home with Tiger girl. I’m learning a lot about social media and how to build up my brand and promote this blog. There has been quite a few things which I have changed here on the blog in order to drive up more traffic and improve on it’s stats.

  1. I’ve joined quite a few different groups/forums to get more exposure to the blog.
  2. Give the blog a makeover and make it is easier to share my posts via twitter, facebook and google + with social media friendly buttons.
  3. Blog more frequently and have more varied articles/posts on the blog.
  4. Comment on blogs.

I’ve seen an increase in traffic overall but what has been dismaying is my Alexa rankings. I’ve been trying to get it down to 100,000 but it is taking ages. The most disappointing thing is that I’ve seen many sites move down to 100,000 and below so easily and it seems effortless for them. My ranking however have moved in the opposite direction. It was down to 103,000 a few months back but have risen to 121,325 as of writing of this post. I know that Alexa ranking has to do with others having the Alexa toolbar installed and visiting your site. The only conclusion I can come to after reading through different posts on how to reduce one’s Alexa’s status is that there has been an influx of visitors who visited my site without having the Alexa toolbar installed.  Anyone has suggestions on how to get my  Alexa ranking down to 100,000?
