P52-Shadows and Poetic Winter Challenge- Solitude

This week I’m combing two different photography challenges P52(Shadows) and Winter Photo Challenge Solitude). I took the shot above around midday. The shadow of the lone plant even though there were two pots of plants on that corridor.

The shadows from Tiger girl’s feet and she trying to get out the lone packet of Pretz which was left in the ziplock bag. The kids love snacking on Pretz and they finish it up pretty fast.

This shot ended up a bit blurry as Tiger girl kept on moving. I wanted to capture her shadowy silhouette but it didn’t turn out as well as expected. She was the only one willing to be on camera as her brothers left to play with their new remote control car with their dad.

P52- Week 4 {Self-Potrait}

I haven’t been taking many photos together with the kids. Most of the time it’s me behind the camera so it’s difficult for me to get a shot of myself using my cybershot. It’s hard to judge the angle and distance that the I need to put the camera away from me to take a shot. I do not have an Iphone or a smart phone so it’s not that easy to take pretty shots of myself or myself with the kids without trial and error.

This is another main reason why it’s difficult to take self portraits. Tiger girl is mostly in the carrier when I bring the kids out and she loves “attacking” the camera when she gets the chance to do so. I really need an extra hand or another person if I am to get nice shots of me and Tiger girl like the one below.

P52- Week 1 {Resolutions}

This week I’ve been thinking about the 2012 resolutions which I have made. One of the resolutions that I have listed down is to take more photographs and learn how to use the functions on my semi-pro Sony Cybershot. I have been having this camera around for about 3 years and I’m still not very apt in using the manual functions on it.

I’ve decided that this is the year 2012 that I really try out all the functions that I have on the camera. It would be a good training ground for me to experiment on until I get my first DSLR. I will dutifully try to use the different controls while embarking on the P52 project.

In the shot above I was trying to capture the awesomeness of the most ferocious dinosaur known to man – T-Rex. The shot was taken from underneath the beast so you can see the shadow of the skeleton on the ceiling. It’s my first time using night vision and I’m amazed at how different the shot looks from normal photos.
