Grateful Table: Blessings, Prayers and Graces for the Daily meal by Brenda Knight is a really inspirational book.  There is a prayer for each day of the year from January to December. The book is a collection of prayers, quotes and blessings which center around gratitude.

Each contributor shares his/her own unique stance about gratitude  and gives us an insight into how GOD is ever present in our lives and watching over us. He gives us many gifts which we should be thankful for.

Encouraging Words
Tonight we give thanks for the great gift of friendship
and in particular for my great friend…thank you for the
circumstances that brought us together and have bound us
together into the sacred bundle of life. Thank you also for
the gift of our friendship: for knowledge that comforts,
for words that encourage, for insight that blesses, for all
the experience shared, for the sweet bliss of knowing each
other deeply in so many ways; for history and a hope of the
future, for conversation and laughter, for silence, for bearing
each other’s witness truly, for holding each other safe in our
hearts with great love and tenderness.
—Daphne Rose Kingma ( 28th May)

There are many lovely prayers like the one above in the book by Brenda Knight.  They really lift up your spirits and  make you feel gratitude after reading.

 My thoughts

I really enjoyed reading this book and it does make me feel more grateful for all the blessings that GOD has bestowed me. There are so many different prayers and thoughts being shared in the book. I initially asked to review this copy as I wanted to know what other prayers we could use for saying before meals at the dining table.  Besides the  dinner table prayers many other prayers touched my heart and spoke to me about the expressing love and thankfulness which we often neglect.

I have seen how wonderful it can be with gratitude in your heart and am going to share my experiences with this book with the kids at the dining table.

Do get a copy of this book if you looking to experience some gratitude in your life.

Penguin Pandemonium- Christmas Crackers

Book Cover

Book Cover

Penguin Pandemonium – Christmas Crackers (Awesome Animals) by Jeanne Willis is the 4th book about the quirky penguins which live in City Zoo. It’s Christmas time at City Zoo and the penguins go on a wild adventure when they managed to escape from their enclosure and hid in Santa’s sack. They took a ride on the reindeer pulled sledge to Wheatfield’s Infant School.

The penguins had a whale of an adventure there where they build a snow penguin, made Christmas cards for each others and their friends and decorated a tree.

The penguins learned about the real meaning of Christmas which is sharing with their friends and not just about receiving presents from Santa.

My thoughts

I found this an interesting kids book which Doggie boy and I read together. We read out a chapter of the book each night before bedtime with both of us taking turns to read the pages. Both of us found the story really hilarious and refreshing to read. It really tied into the theme of sharing and being grateful during Christmas.

I will certainly be looking out for the other books in this series the next time we visit the library.
