Iris and the Dragonflies by Rosemary Danielis

Iris and the Dragonflies written by Rosemary Daniels revolves around a middle age school girl named Iris who is able to talk to Dragonflies. She was a girl who loved nature and would rather spend time by the creek where the dragonflies lived alone instead of being with her friends from school.
During the one month holiday her family and her went back to Ireland to visit her grandmother. Iris was reluctant to leave her beloved creek and didn’t want to go on the family vacation. However once she was in Ireland she started to enjoy her vacation as she learned more about her family history and their magic abilities.
Back home after the vacations she was appalled to know that they would be tearing up her beloved creek. With the help of her best friend Grace and some new friends made in the new term, Iris managed to stage a rally to save the creek which resulted in massive media attention and the plans for commercial firm to take over the area be cancelled.
I found the book really interesting and captivating. It did take me some time to go through all 21 chapters of it. I can’t wait to get my hands on the 2nd book in this series.
I certainly recommend this book for young readers who are into reading about fantasy.
