SOC: Starting Anew Through De-cluttering

SOCSunday badge SOC: Starting Anew Through De cluttering

It has been a busy first week as the boys just started the new school year. We are slowly getting into the back of school routine. The six week holidays had whizzed passed in a blink of the eye. Even though  New year is just over we  are busy getting ready for Chinese New Year which we will be celebrating later this month.

I am starting this year anew by  de-cluttering the boys toys. I’m packing up those that they no longer play with to donate to the poor. They have too many toys and it’s time they learn to share them with the lesser fortunate.

My little helper and I managed to set aside two big boxes of toys to donate and will be passing them over to their grandfather who does charity work in the Philippines.

My next target area would be to de-clutter the kitchen the next week. Hopefully Tiger Girl will be as helpful as she was this week.

Hi Dominique, doesnt it feel great to declutter. It gives you so much clarity and renewed energy. I also love the feeling of giving what I no longer need to that do.

Oh my… that sweet little face on her! What a great little helper. I hate toy clutter. One day it’s fine, the next day it’s taken over the house. High five to you!

My children have reached an age where they no longer play with most of their toys, it’s now all about the electronics, but they are still to young to let go of them. My solution has been to hide a toy every once and a while and if they don’t notice it’s gone after a month I throw it away or donate it, depending on it’s condition. Because I am scatterbrained I sometimes forget where I hide them. The other day my husband opened up his tool box to find a hand full of polly pockets.

Sounds like you and Julie are on the same wavelength! I often make my son make decisions about his toys. And then there are some that I just quietly get rid of when he’s not looking and hope he doesn’t ask questions later!

i’ve been decluttering myself. It feels wonderful to get things out that you no longer use or that have been taking up space that you could use for other things. Best of luck to you as you tackle other projects.

Oh I can so relate to the going back to the routine again. My son just returned to school today. That’s one mighty cute little helper you got there :D

Love that you are doing this. We’re at a stage where I’m not ready to give some things up – even though they are stashed out of the way because we are trying for one more. Toys really do start to take over though so I love that you have a good way to pare them down for a good cause.
