Dear Monkey Boy,
It has been awhile since the Angry Birds invaded our household. Ever since your dad got himself a smart phone and downloaded the game app, you have been constantly trying to hijack his phone after getting a taste of that game.
I don’t think that you will agree we me but I seriously don’t get this game. What’s so fun in throwing birds out from a catapult and knocking over stones to “kill” the green pigs?
Why can’t the pigs be left alone to play by themselves? Why do the birds need to attack and destroy their house?I personally find the concept of destroying the “enemy” rather revolting.
The game reminds me of the big bad wolf huffing and puffing and blowing down the houses of the tree little pig and the difficult the wolf faced trying to blow down the brick house.
You have claimed that the game helps cultivate both your physical and mental dexterity. However as I see it, besides repeatedly moving your finger across the screen there isn’t any real exercise or skill involved in it.
Unless you are playing with the life size model and actually using a real catapult to knock down those pigs Angry Birds Game is NOT a mental and physical activity.
If the game does require you to execute strategic planning alongside with physical activity, I would happily allow you to play it.
Until then, you are restricted to a maximum of 15 minutes of playtime on Angry Birds each time/twice a week.
Love,
Mummy

I don’t get this game either – never played it and I hope I never will; but I can’t say the same for my son though. I know eventually he’ll be like your Monkey Boy one day.

I soooooo agree! I’m glad my kids are grown and not in the computer game age. I’d throw them out the window! The games first 🙂 Good luck with this…

You know what I hate most about Angry Birds? My 3 year old is better at it than I am.

Hi-5!My 7 yr old is way better then me too! I guess kids have this inborn talent with electronic gaming.

I know people go crazy for the game, but I’ve never played it!

I caved and downloaded this game to my droid. I got as far as level 1-12, and couldn’t beat it. Then I got locked out of the game…

This game is on my iPad, hubby downloaded it and played it whenever he’s using my iPad. Other than that, I have no idea and would not want to play it at all.

Love how you explain the game is NOT a physical or mental activity. You are hilarious!!!!

I don’t get the game either….but it sure is fun!

That is awesome. I wish I could write a letter to my husband about that…wait maybe I will. He has a horrible flight simulator game that is in REAL TIME. I have no idea the point. Maybe I should limit him from hogging the computer for hours on end just to watch a fake sky.

I got bit by the AB bug awhile ago but I’m over it. 🙂 It was a fun time waster while it lasted.

I just don’t understand the fascination with this game. My son plays it and I ask, “Why?”
July 8, 2011 @ 12:07 am
I have to confess to having Angry Birds on my iphone and ipad, and if you get started on the silly game it’s addictive. I try not to get started. Let us know how the boy does with his limitations.
July 8, 2011 @ 2:34 am
I think my grandson may be addicted to this game.
Seriously!

I’m not familiar with this game, but our home has been invaded by others. Rarely do I understand them.
July 8, 2011 @ 9:20 am
I tried to play it once, I don’t have a “smart phone” so I guess I will never know. I am addicted to Mahjoung and my son tells me there is a great scrabble game I can play on my Ipad but I haven’t tried yet. I would rather read blogs!
July 8, 2011 @ 9:26 am
@Kathy,
I love mahjong too. If there is chance to gather with friends or relatives we will sit down for a game of mahjong .

Hmmm… can’t comment really… don’t play any e-games and never even heard of AB. But from what I am reading here, I’m not missing out on anything! 😀
July 11, 2011 @ 3:48 am
no game for me, thanks for the information shared.
July 15, 2011 @ 9:39 am
I’m not a big gamer…probably because i’m so bad at it.
I’ll be curious to see how the ‘ban’ works out for you.
Thanks for a thoughtful link this week.
A+

@ Jenny,
The ban worked out really well especially since Hub’s is away on a 3 week work trip and he hasn’t any access to Angry Bird on the smart phone : P He hasn’t even asked to play the free version of Angry Bird on the PC.
