Aloha Friday – Friday the Thirteen Edition

This week has been rather chaotic for me.It has been exhausting dealing with the boys and transitioning both of them to sleep on the respective bunk beds by themselves. I have to get Doggy boy to sleep on either the upper or lower bunk as he needs to vacate his bed for the next occupant- Tiger girl. There is still a tussle of who is to be sleeping on the upper bunk and there doesn’t seem to be a solution yet. I did consider just letting both of them sleep on the upper bunk but they would be too busy talking and playing with each other to actually sleep, hence the need for separation.
The weather is also getting to me with the intense heat. I know it’s almost the start of summer but having 32 degrees Celsius indoor is really getting to me. I’m sure that my electricity bill will shoot through the roof this month as the air-con is switched on in the afternoon or else Tiger girl won’t even be able to take a nap. Even with the fan directly blowing at her she still wakes up drench in sweat after dozing off for 10 minutes or so.
Everyday I’ve been craving for ice-cool water to cool down and get away from the crazy heat and wind the hyper kids down. A hot mama makes one become a irritated mama.
This week’s question(s)
How do you keep cool? What’s the best thirst quenching drink you recommend?

I don’t like it when it’s too hot – you can only take off so many clothes! 😉 To keep cool, I usually will end up putting my hair up while it’s still wet, which seems to help. My favorite ‘thirst quenching’ drink on a hot day is homemade lemonade or Iced Green Tea. 🙂

@Stacy,
I love Ice Green Tea too.. luckily there’s a 24hr mini mart at the nearby petrol station so I can just pop down for a quick green tea fix.

We actually hit a heat advisory this week on Monday (which we usually don’t get until Julyish) but now the temp is 62F! A 38 degree difference in 5 days is insane. Through the heat I realized my usual soda and energy drinks were not quenching me in the least. Instead, it felt like they were leaving a sweetly sour film in my mouth. Yuck! I never drink water, but lemme tell ya. When I broke down and got a nice big glass of ice water…it was Heaven!

It was so hot the last few days in Malaysia, coupled with the sudden haze appearing out of nowhere… thank God it started raining yesterday evening! At least the weather is not so humid and hot now!
To keep cool, I normally go for an iced Coke/Pepsi.. 😛

I drink a lot of Vitamin Water Zero and Crystal Light lemonade.

@Harriet,
Vitamin Water Zero..hmm never heard about that here.. I’ve seen something similar.. it’s worth trying out and I’ll see if there is any in the supermarkets to try out next week.

I keep cool by leaving windows open and running fans. I like plain water!

I know I don’t drink enough water but when I do it has to be something like Vitamin Water.

I am always cold. I have been much colder since I started medication. So I fight to stay warm now a lot more than I worry about being cold.
I love frozen Coke. Ice cold water.
Thanks for joining and playing a long this week. Blogger made the visits delayed and caused some problems this week, so hope you’ll join us again next week. 🙂

I know what you mean about the weather getting to you. Luckily, it’s not that hot yet here. I dread it when summer really hits.
My cool drink of choice? Ice honey green tea!
