Top 10 Highlights of July 2012

Tiger girl and me
July has been a very busy month for me. The kids are back in school and it has been a whirlwind of activities for us. This month the kids have been busy trying out new games, visiting places and having lots of fun.  Besides fun and activities I’ve also been concentrating more on their academic development. This is because Doggy boy will be entering elementary school next year and Monkey boy will be having his first formal exam yr end.

Here is a recap of what highlights we had this month.

#1- I talked about how I created a Multilingual Environment for the kids and how important it is to start the kids exposure to language from young.

Tiger girl driving

#2-  Tiger girl really enjoys cars like her brothers. Here’s a peek on how she manages to get her quota of being behind the steering wheel. I guess when you have elder brothers it can hard not to develop a linking towards cars.

Doggie boy and his subway.

#3- Doggie boy is more into arts and crafts now. We aren’t sending him for any art lessons but he does do his own crafts at home when he is free. Last month he made a Subway and made an impressive underwater  fish fantasy drawing.

my camera

#4-  I got my new baby- Cannot Rebel T4si 650D. I’ve been saving up for it and finally my  picture perfect dream has come true.

Now to work on getting some upgrades for this baby. Am eying a better zoom and a macro lens.

Canvas Art

#4- July was a month where I stepped outside my comfort zone and tried something different- Canvas painting. It’s was the first  Artsy Challenge which I have done in a long while.  It was a really fun experience painting on canvas and it was great fun for me.

Doggie boy rock climbing

#5- We had our first family rock climbing experience with Beyond Academics. It was the 2nd time climbing for the boys and hubby and my 1st time. Even though scaling the wall was challenging but I really enjoyed myself even though my muscles were aching on the 2nd day.

waffle with ice-cream

#6- I was having dessert cravings so I took out our waffle maker and the kids had yummy Belgium waffles with fruits and ice cream. Next month I will attempt to do more bakes. I’m planing to do a cheesecake and tiramisu.

#7-  I got more personal on the blog and wrote about the 30 things you would like to know about me

tiger girl in my shoes.

#8- Kids really love playing dress up. I caught my little girl walking in my shoes.  All my 3 kids loved doing this.

Making time

#9- It is important to Make Time. You will never have enough time to do whatever you would like to do unless you really make an effort to make time for it.

daddy and tiger girl

#10 – What better way to spend the weekend then to have time to spend with the kids. Having a Daddy and me moment is what the kids enjoy. I for see that we will be having plenty of this in months to come.

How was your month of July?

Motivational Monday: Age is No barrier

Tiger girl drawing

Over the weekend the kids and I attended a session over at the Singapore Science Centre. The kids were invited by Playeum for their Sweet Tales Open House for their Outrageous Chocolate Factory workshop. The workshop was not as captivating as I have expected. In essence there was a short skid  put up by the staff and after that the kids were guided in making their own art pieces.

What was most interesting for me was the way Tiger girl showed her maturity and participated alongside the older kids even though the activities were for kids from 3yrs and up. She happily pulled a cushion and sat at the back to listen to the girls who were putting up the short skid telling about the various candies which the kids could make. She even took and extra cushion and placed it next to her before tell me ” Mummy sit !!” while patting on the cushion.

After the instructions were given and the children moved on to the arts and craft session, Tiger girl found an empty place and plonk herself in front of one of the instructors. She chose the materials she wanted to use and asked me to help her paste it onto the coloured sheet which she had chosen. She worked on her art work for nearly 45 minutes!!

Tiger girl  did up a really pretty card and I was really impressed by her initiative and drive to participate in the activities that day.

It really shows that  age is not a barrier for her

Have your kid done anything that motivated you lately?
