[Book Review]-The Day an Angel Ran into My Room

Book cover

The Day an Angel Ran into My Room by Annabella Vanezuela-Alarcon is a children’s storybook about a girl named Alessandra who had a visit from her guardian angel before going to bed one night.

Angelise her guardian angel spoke to her and told her that she is special. She is part of a great big family and has many different teachers who can teach her. There are teachers to teach her in school about academics while her parents and those around her teach her about love.

Angeleise also lets Alessandra into some secrets about life.  She tells her how important it is for her to remain positive and think of good things. Do not be afraid to ASK  GOD for things she may need and if GOD thinks she should have it, it will be given to her.  Everything that she does have a reaction.  Any good deed that Alessandra does will be multiplied and more good would come back to her.

If she faced any problems to seek help from her parents or guardian angel as problems are learning experiences which she has to go through in life. GOD is also always there for her and will send her guardian angel down to her in times of need.

My thoughts

I love how Annnabella uses day to day examples to explain GOD’s love and actions and how being positive and prayer can help a person.

Praying means closing your eyes and reaching
deep, deep into your heart with all your love
and feeling like one with God.

The quotation above  from one of the pages really caught my  attention. Prayer is something which is each child can do.They can pray to GOD for guidance and seek his help. She makes it so easy for a child who is reading the book to understand these concepts which maybe rather complex to a 5 yr old.  My son really enjoyed reading the book together with me and learning more about how GOD and his love for us. I certainly recommend this book to any parent who would like to explain about guardian angels and the need to ASK and seek help when needed.

Queen-a-Bella Finds a Best Friend

Queen-a-Bella Finds a Best Friend by Lisl Fair & Nina de Polonia is the latest in the series of  kids story book for preschoolers. In this book Queen-A-Bella gets slighted when her older sister’s best friend comes to visit and she was not allowed to join in their game. She was very sad and decided after some thought  felt that she too should have her own best friend.

Queen-a-Bella goes through the meadow and comes across a butterfly. She asked it to be her best friend but was flatly refused as the butterfly felt that it was a ridiculous request from a rabbit who could not fly.  She next approached the fish in the lake and then  a fox who wanted in actual to eat her. While escaping from the fox she came across a lizard wearing his best Sunday suit.  The lizard rejected her invitation to be her best friend initially but after much persuasion by Queen-a-Bella he accepted her offer. The story ended off happily with the two new best friends enjoying themselves dancing.

My thoughts

I really enjoyed reading this book with my kids. I like the cheery illustration and the underlying message that even though  you may not look the same  or be of the same species you can still be best friends and share common interests. Queen-a-Bella also shows that it is possible  to achieve what you set out to do ( in the case get a best friend) if you are determined enough and not give up.  I recommend this book to parents who are looking for a book to read to their children about perseverance and acceptance.
