Guns & Roses on a Monday

the boys and their guns

Monkey boy had been asking for a NERF gun for the past few month. I have resisted letting the kids buy toy guns for the longest time.  I strongly feel that it is a toy that advocates violence and has no educational value. Just like those action figures of superman, Ben 10 and other cartoon characters which most little boys adore having a toy gun can just be a passing obsession for them. They would be better off without this toy as it would be potentially dangerous if they got shot in the eye or face even though the bullets are made of foam.

However this time I relented  and allowed him to get one. Monkey boy offered to use his savings to purchase his own gun and get an additional one for his brother so both of them can play together. Taking into account his  generosity  towards his brother was commendable and seeing that he has been putting in effort in  getting a Distinction for his Grade 2 piano exam we allowed him to purchase one. He also promised that he would be very careful in using it and teach his brother how to handle it properly so they will not injure each other with it.

The boys too shared their guns with their sister and the three of them had great fun running after each other and playing together.

Being able to have the gun was a great motivational aim for him as his best friends had a gun each and he really wanted one so that he could play together with them during play dates which they had arranged at each others houses.

The guns are being kept under lock during the week and the kids only have access to them over the weekend.  I guess having  a toy to loo forward to playing with on the weekend is a good motivational tool to spur him to be diligent and on his best behaviour for the rest of the week.

What motivates your kids?

Firmoo Sunglasses- A Review

Firmoo sunglasses

A few weeks ago I received pair of sunglasses from Firmoo for review. I have been looking around for another pair of sunglasses and their offer really was timely. I have perfect vision and have no need for prescription sunglasses so I requested for a pair of sunglasses which design caught my fancy.

It was the first time that I was ordering a pair of sunglasses online and I was skeptical about the quality of the product and whether the sunglasses would require adjusting when I receive it. I know that sometimes what I see on screen may not be the product which I will receive on hand as I have experienced discrepancies in my previous online orders.

I was pleasantly surprised by the pair of sunglasses which I received. Not only were they  well manufactured and light weight, they also fit like a glove. The pair of sunglasses came with both a hard cover casing and a soft cover case. There was also a cleaning cloth and screwdriver kit.

The sunglasses were shipped over within a week of me placing my order and  I like the fact that there is this feature called the “virtual try on” where one can upload your own photo to get a better idea of how your chosen pair of  sunglasses would fit.

Don’t the sunglasses look cool on me?

The only qualm I have with the sunglasses is that it would be great if the tint were a tad darker  or have an indication of the level of UV protection which the sunglasses had. The sun can sometimes get really strong  here living in the tropics and 100% UV protection is a must.  I couldn’t find any information about the level of UV protection that the pair of sunglasses could provide me.

Firmoo is offering all first-time buyers a pair of Free glasses. You just have to pay for shipping and they will ship out to you within a week. They ship internationally to many countries around the world and it’s certainly an enticing offer if you are thinking about getting new prescription glasses or sunglasses.
