This week I embarked on a project which I had been stalling for a long time- Making over the blog Dominique’s Desk .
I’ve wanted to change the header and blog template from the default Twenty ten theme to a more suitable one. I forgot to take screenshots of the old template with the header before I did the switch-a-roo to the new header and template. However here are some shots of the how the header has evolved through the years.
In 2009 ( When I only had two kids)
In 2010 after Tiger girl was born I changed the header again.
Here is the latest header.
I ‘ve updated the photos and changed the tagline. I’ve dropped the “From” in the blog’s name as I think it’s unnecessary seems I’m so used to sign off as Dominique’s Desk when I drop comments on other sites. I’m still think there needs to be some minor edits on the header in regards to the alignment of the blog name.
I’ve also made some edits to the stylesheet of the Commune theme to increase font size and change the link colours to make it more readable on the eyes.
Having a nice set of teeth is something which I was not naturally endowed with. Many people don’t know that I spent nearly 10 years going through orthodontic treatment during my teenage years. I had to endure many different procedures and even had to undergo LA to remove embedded teeth and my wisdom teeth.
Each time I went for my treatment I shudder at having to endure the discomforts during the treatments. I did wish that there was a way that the dental treatment could be carried out without me feeling the awkward jerks and sensations on my gums and hearing the drill so near to me.
At Nashville Dentist they have a very innovative way of carrying out dental care. They engage in sedation dentistry where one can snooze in a sleep like state during dental treatment. That would be uber cool if I could sleep through my dental treatments. It will killing two birds with one stone as I will get my teeth done and catch up on badly needed sleep at the same time.
Disclaimer: I am participating in a Blogger campaign by Bucks2Blog and was compensated.
Since the start of the new school term for Monkey Boy I have been really busy getting back into the school routine. Time really fly by and I’m finding difficulty organizing and keeping track of the various appointments that the kids and I have. I needed something to show me how to get organized.
I needed to start somewhere and learn how to declutter. Looking at the pile of countless receipts on my table which I have accumulated this month gives me a headache. The receipts need to be cleared after taking note of the expenditure and I have been procrastinating about doing it .
It would be great to have something which is a digital filing system and more. It will certainly help simply the process of documenting and storing of important information.
Luckily there is such an online productivity tool for home managers called AboutOne.com.
I took the productivity tour and signed up for the 17 day Free Passport which gave me 17 full days of usage with no expiration date and credit card information required. I can use the days as and when I liked and if I do sign up it would only cost $30/yr for using this tool.
I was blown away by how easy it is to use after signing up for the trial. I could instantly add in information on my family members, their health history, education and appointments which needed to be taken note of. It also made it easier for me to take not of our home maintenance. There is even a section where you can list down all your appliances and their warranty dates so you will know which appliance is under warranty and for how long. Isn’t that neat?
