What Women Fear by Angie Smith

What Women Fear: Walking in Faith that Transforms by Angie Smith relays a very powerful message.

” Trust in the lord and all your fears will disappear. ”

This is the message that I get when I read the book. It’s extremely difficult not to experience fear at some point or another at time however if you have the right attitude you will realise that most fears are unfounded.

Angie Smith in her book talks about how fear has affected her when she was young and now in her adulthood. Some of the fear of rejection , failure and isolation that she mentioned are commonly experience by others.

She cleverly interjects relevant scripture passages into the book to depict how Fear can stifle one’s growth and make one self deceive.  Fear can make one feel less worth and look down on your personal achievements when you should be proud of your own achievements instead.

Many a time when we struggle to obey GOD we end up frustrated and feel uneasy with ourselves.  Sometimes the thought of failure itself is so fearful that we don’t even dare take the first step to answer the call of GOD.  Re approaching yourselves for a bad decision made won’t make it right but instead it would be more appropriate on working on the solution and not committing the error again.

I love the frankness in which Angie talked about her own experiences and sharing in her book. It is rather heavy reading and it took me quite a while to finish reading the 224 page book.

Organize For A Fresh Start

Organize for a Fresh Start: Embrace Your Next Chapter in Life by Susan Fay West is one of the most useful books which I have read this year.

In this book Susan talks about changes and transitions. How one change can lead to a series of changes which may sometime be too overwhelming for a person.

There is a need to know what one’s objectives and goals are. Everything that is there is for a purpose. If there is no need or use for an item it should be removed or given away.

The four parts of Susan’s book address the need for

  • Getting Started
  • Reorganizing your surroundings
  • Manage your time
  • Staying Organized.

I love the fact that Susan has broken down each aspect of change into byte size chunks which are easy to digest. She dishes out a lot of helpful tips to deal with the different changes that you face in life and how to organize yourself for a fresh start.

This year has been a change for me as I am aiming to remove all the mental and physical clutter that has been bogging me down all these years.

It has been hard for me to keep to a schedule and really see through what I have planned to do. Susan makes organizing easy through her  step by step focus on the 3 Ps – People, Product and Place.

Through focusing on one at a time it’s easier to make a decision on the things to keep or discard.  Our needs and wants constantly change and as we age we have different priorities. Organizing is a ongoing project which I now handle more enthusiastically after being equipped with the proper tools.
