Writer’s Workshop: Grandparents Comming For Dinner
This week on Mama Kat’s Writer’s workshop I’m answering the prompt-
4.) Your significant others family is coming over in two hours..think about what’s in your kitchen. Now QUICK…what’s for dinner!?!
I don’t really have guest over for dinner. However if the grandparents do pop by they will be able to savour any of these Japanese dishes. My kids love Japanese food so we have Japanese cuisine often in our household.
If I am feeling adventurous and am up to it on energy and drive they will be having the following.

Rice with breaded chicken, tempura brinjal, Agedashi tofu, chawamushi and green tea. It would take me approximately 2 hours to make this including the time taken for marinating the chicken.
However if I am short on time they will be having one of the following one dish meals.

Curried macaroni with garden vegetables and chicken nuggets.
It takes about an hour to prepare this meal.

Cold soba noodles with crab stick and fish cake.
This will take about 1/2 hr to make.

I love Japanese food. Great post. Thanks for stopping by my blog. To answer ur question about the asparagus …lightly tossed with olive oil, salt and pepper, then cooked in an iron skillet in the oven at about 360f just until it is hot throughout, still crispy. For a more asian flavor, use coconut oil or sesame oil. Each tastes slightly different but all are good and easy! Happy new year.

I am so hungry right now. Not sure if I want to come to your house unannounced or surprise you 🙂

I’ve not ventured into Japanese food but might well have a go now!

I just ordered a slow cooker… and I reckon I might be making a lot of one-dish meals this month! 🙂

I love Japanese food too. My husband is half Japanese but we still don’t eat it a lot. I wish I could cook it. Sounds like a wonderful meal to me!

I have never had Japanese food ever. This sounds like a dish I would certainly try though. Great post today!

I love Japanese food. Except Sushi or Sashimi. I don’t do seafood.
I’m now hungry.

The curried macaroni looks delicious (and like something I’d try). I’ve never had Japanese food, honestly. Most of our dinners contain chicken or fish (usually fried, something we’re trying to change) and would look similar to the rice and chicken in your first picture.

Everything looks delicious. But you lost me at cooking for a whole hour! 😉

I certainly am not a Japanese gourmet cook, and don’t pretend to know much about Japanese cuisine, but the curry macaroni looked and sounded appealing to my taste buds!

Hmmm…
You know how you wrote you don’t have guests fro dinner often.
I think that might change if people around you see this post.
Your dishes look wonderful…and so professionally done.
Thank you for sharing this great gastronomic post with us for the letter G.
