Many of the hits which are featured in this album  were pieces that I studied about when I was in school. My thoughts

I like the great variety of hits on this album. With a range from music from concertos, overtures, marches and requiems it is a great way to introduce classical music to your kids. I have been playing these tunes to my kids and we have been learning more about the various composers through their music.

Queen-a-Bella Finds a Best Friend

Queen-a-Bella Finds a Best Friend by Lisl Fair & Nina de Polonia is the latest in the series of  kids story book for preschoolers. In this book Queen-A-Bella gets slighted when her older sister’s best friend comes to visit and she was not allowed to join in their game. She was very sad and decided after some thought  felt that she too should have her own best friend.

Queen-a-Bella goes through the meadow and comes across a butterfly. She asked it to be her best friend but was flatly refused as the butterfly felt that it was a ridiculous request from a rabbit who could not fly.  She next approached the fish in the lake and then  a fox who wanted in actual to eat her. While escaping from the fox she came across a lizard wearing his best Sunday suit.  The lizard rejected her invitation to be her best friend initially but after much persuasion by Queen-a-Bella he accepted her offer. The story ended off happily with the two new best friends enjoying themselves dancing.

My thoughts

I really enjoyed reading this book with my kids. I like the cheery illustration and the underlying message that even though  you may not look the same  or be of the same species you can still be best friends and share common interests. Queen-a-Bella also shows that it is possible  to achieve what you set out to do ( in the case get a best friend) if you are determined enough and not give up.  I recommend this book to parents who are looking for a book to read to their children about perseverance and acceptance.
