Writers Workshop: Can I do it this June?

Tiger girl and Daddy

There are many things which I hope to complete this June. I have so many things and half the time as the kids are on vacations to the 3rd week of June.

Here is a list of 10 items which  I hope to complete by end of June.

  1. Get R to take care of Tiger girl by himself  at night so I can finally have my girls night out.
  2. Finish up all the book reviews that I have to get done.
  3. De-clutter and spruce up the house.
  4. Plan the homeschooling material for Tiger girl and to start on monthly theme focus in Japanese.
  5. Revamp my wardrobe and get more trendy clothes.
  6. Decide on which DSLR camera to purchase.
  7. Start exercising more regularly so that the final 5 kilograms can finally come off and disappear forever (hopefully)
  8. Set up my blogging schedule for the next  month.
  9. Plan new bakes and meals for the month of July
  10. Plan our next holiday.

What are your plans for June?

How will you go about to achieve them?

Simply Summer by Kate Tietje

book cover

Simply Summer by Kate Tietje is a cookbook which has many recipes which I’m dying to try out in my kitchen. This book is yet to be released and will be on sale from the 18th of June.

I had the  privilege to get an advance copy of the book for review and I really loved reading it.  This book is easy to read and it is divided into the sections- Salads and Dips, Sauces and Dressings, Drinks, Main Dishes, Side Dishes and Desserts.

Each recipe is clearly stated if it is free from allergens like of nuts, eggs, grains, peanuts, fish. This information is really useful especially if you have kids who are allergic to certain substances and have a list of items which they can’t consume. I’m lucky that my kids do not fall into that category so I am free to try out all the different recipes stated in this cookbook.

The desserts section of the book caught my attention as there were recipes like strawberry-mango sherbet, lemon sherbet and chocolate chip ice-cream. I was amazed to find out how simple it was to make your own sherbet. You don’t even need to have an ice-cream maker.

Another section of the book which I focused on were the drinks and the side dishes. My kids are big on drinking iced tea and it would certainly save me $$ if we made homemade iced tea instead of getting the store bought version.

Making Pita Bread  is another recipe in the cookbook which I would consider doing.  I like the idea of  making pita bread in batches and it being frozen for use later on. The bread also makes a quick lunch  for the  Monkey boy before he goes off to school.

You can get a copy of this book from Modern Alternative Mama’s Store when it goes on sale on the 18th this month.

Disclaimer:  I received a copy of Simply Summer for review purposes. Opinions are 100% my own.
