SOC: Preparing for the New Year Again

Today is Chinese New Year Eve. We are having reunion dinner tonight at my parent’s house. Today is the last day of the Year of the Rabbit and tonight we will be sending away the rabbit and welcoming in the dragon. This year Chinese New Year comes very early. It’s only 23 days after we celebrated the crossing over from 2011 to 2012. Before I have time to settle into the new routines and schedule it’s celebration time again.
It is more exhausting preparing for the Chinese New Year as I besides spring cleaning there are more things to prepare to welcome the new year.
The kids are excited as they will be receiving red packets stuffed with money. It will be a great time to add to their savings in the bank. We adults on the other hand see it as a time where there is major expenses which cannot be avoided. There will be gatherings and meeting up with relatives which we seldom see.
One thing I’m certain of. This year I’m determined to take minimal Chinese New Year goodies to eat. I seriously don’t want pile on any extra pounds and jeopardize the good start I have made this year. I’m 2kg to my mid target of 60kg having lost 1kg over this festive season. That’s something to be proud of 🙂

I was born in the year of the Wood Dragon. I love being back in “my” animal year, even though it is the year of the Water Dragon. I always succeed when I remember to complete one project before beginning another, as water dragons are reminded to do.

I would love to be able to see the celebrations in China sometime with the New Year. Although like calendar new year, I agree completely with your thoughts about limiting sweets/treats – especially since you are on such a strong start to your goal!
