May Day holidays just went past and the boys are deep into study mode as they are in the midst of their Mid Year exams. They have completed their oral and composition papers and will be doing their Paper 2 soon.
To help ease up the study stress I have been buying fresh flowers for the house to brighten up the place.
light purple Foxgloves
The flowers that I buy can’t be compared to the blooms that I saw at the flower dome a few weeks ago.
Dark Pink blooms
There were the most unusual flowers in the dome which I do not normally see in florists .they certainly make good centerpieces and conversation starters.
a mixture of different color flowers
Sometime if the objective is not to make the centerpiece too outstanding, these types of flowers would make a good selection.
light blue flowers
These while blue flowers too would make the home more cozy with it’s addition.
Flowers are great visual stimulus to perk up one’s mood instilling positive vibes within you.
I’ll be making another trip down to the Flower Dome soon to view their latest exhibition on tulips.
It has been nearly four and a half months into 2016. Time has really sprinted pass. Looking back at the resolutions that I have set in January it has been great that I’ve manage to keep most of my goals.
At the start of the year I set these goals for myself.
Focus more on ME. – My well being and growth
Increasing my spiritual knowledge.
Spend more quality time with my 3 kids
Going on 2 trips
Reading more books. I target 20 books.
A reminder to myself
I have been certainly focusing more on myself. I know it is important to take care of both the inside and the outside. If you look good you will feel good.
I’m into total care and that means taking note of everything top to toe. As I grow older I realize that it is ever more important to take note of once appearance. Self love is important and should not be neglected. I used to focus more on the kids and family then myself and it shouldn’t have been that way.
One has to focus more on self to be able to have the energy to deal with kids and the daily grinds of living. Solo parenting can be really exhausting at times as one has to be both the mother and father to the children as their biological father is physically , mentally and emotionally absent nearly their entire life. It is really important for me to frequently recharge myself so I can give the kids 100% of my attention.
I’ve found that reading the bible daily and doing devotions in the morning has helped tremendously in giving me clarity. With GOD as my guide I am able to focus better and plan better for the kids and my future.
Tiger girl with her care bear and me
I’ve managed to schedule in one-to-one time with the kids on a weekly basis and working hard to keep my promise to spend quality time with them on a regular basis.

Nail art done on Tiger girl’s hand
I’ve spend time experimenting in nail art with Tiger girl this year. She has started to show more interests in manicures and I find it a great bonding activity to do with her. It allows us to be as creative as we want to using the various nail art tools.

As the boys are in school for longer hours and have more homework then their sister I do not have as much one-to-one time with them. However with the limited time that we have we play chess together.
I have lost track of the number of books that I have read so far as I do not document every book that I have read, however I feel that it shouldn’t be a problem to complete at least 20 books. I’ve only done two book reviews here on this blog- 1-2-3 Magic Discipline and Leadership and Soft Skills for students.
