Weekend Reflections- T3

WeekendReflections

The weather has been rather gloomy lately. It has been raining quite a bit and bringing the kids outdoor was out of the question. We ended up at Terminal 3 for lunch and the boys were really thrilled when they saw the slides. After checking with the height chart only Ryan is able to ride on the slide as he is above 110cm. Roy will have to wait till he is slightly older and taller before he is able to have a ride on the slide.

The slide was opened at Terminal 3 earlier on this year. When it first opened it was extremely crowded. However as the months passed and the novelty wore out the crowd dwindled. This suited us well as Ryan need not queue for a long time before he could go on the slide. He also was able to have more tries on the slide while we were there.

Parking at the airport used to be very expensive. However with the recent introduction of $2.50 for the first three hours on weekends it has made it more affordable for us to visit T3 more frequently. The food there at the food court is also very delicious and moderately priced. The dim sum, carrot cake and charsiew bao servings are generously and taste much better then some of the Chinese restaurants which we have been to.

How has your weekend been?

Writer’s Workshop- Why I enjoy Writing

The prompt  -” What  inspires you to write” really caught my attention this week.  I’ve always love writing since young.  Even now I do freelance writing as and when I get the chance to do so. It would be great if I am able to make a full-time living through writing however the opportunities and job are few and the pay quite minimal in our current economic state.

I started blogging after my 1st kid was born. It was done to mark down the milestones that he had achieved and to share his growing up with the rest of the family who were abroad. It started out  seven years ago as a simple journal filled with kids photos and excerpts of their live as that particular moment in time.

From a single blog I went on and created a few other blogs where I wrote on different issues and topics. Handling multiple sites grew tiring and I soon cut back to 3 main sides – the kids, my own personal blog and this one where I share their growing up and  my personal experiences as a parent and a teacher.

Before the internet I used to write in my diary and journals. I do still keep a  journal (4 actually as there is one for each kid) where I write in the different milestones in their lives and mine. The entries are not as long as on here on this blog . I guess that it is because I am more comfortable typing than actually holding the pen and writing. The fat that I am able to speed type also makes me more incline to type than write.

You may be wondering why I still keep a hard copy of important events when everything nowadays are digital and online. I’m still quite worried about data/pictures going missing online due to viruses and trojan horses.Another reason is that  it would be nice for the kids to be able to look back and read how they have physically and mentally developed over the years in the journals I am keeping for them as their future wedding/21st birthday gift.

Why do you write ?
