10 Reasons Why I Support Breastfeeding
This week is World Breastfeeding Week and to show my support for all breastfeeding moms here is a list of 10 reasons why I support breastfeeding. I have been breastfeeding my 3 kids and am still breastfeeding 10.5 month old Tiger Girl.
- It ensures that your infant gets the best and most natural nutrients to ensure healthy growth.
- I can save a lot of milk powder money as breast milk is free.
- I can save the trouble and hassle of having to wash bottles and sterilize them before the next feed.
- It helps me bond with my child and makes her reassured that I’m around for her.
- It boosts your child’s immunity through the antibodies passed to them during breastfeeding. My #3 has been extremely healthy since she was born and her brothers do not fall ill as often as other kids their age.
- It is associated with higher IQ as artificial chemicals and stimulants are not introduced to your child.
- It is convenient and I only need to invest in a good breastfeeding shield to prevent any awkward moments.
- Helps to facilitate proper dental and jaw development of the child.
- Helps the mummy (me) get back into shape and reduce weight faster.
- Reduces the chance of breast cancer for both mother and child.

Yes! I am a strong supporter of breastfeeding too. Breastmilk is a gift from mother nature. What is natural is the best!
I strongly agree with point 4 and 7.
I had to wash and sterilize 2 times more bottles since I needed to store expressed breastmilk at home

I agree with all your reasons for believing so strongly with breast feeding and totally support it! This is one of the best things I could’ve done for my three kiddos.

These are all great reasons why people should support breastfeeding. With how good it is for both mommy and baby, I wish people weren’t so “offended” seeing it in public.

Excellent list! Still going strong nursing my almost two year old, and I can’t agree with number five enough. Only two sicknesses in almost two years (knock on wood!).
Stopping by from Oh Amanda’s.

I couldn’t agree more! Formula milk is an extremely poor substitute – if it can even be called that.
My eldest breastfed until she was 5, and I’m tandem nursing my 3 year old and 6 month old. Breastfeeding has really cemented the bond between all my children, I’m so thankful for that!

I would like to point out that while breastfeeding is the optimum nourishment for a newborn child as well as small children, it does not guarantee perfect health as a reward for the effort put forth. I do believe that the child enjoys the best health possible with regards to its inherited potential.

I agree that it may not be able to ensure perfect health. However if the mother herself is healthy there is a higher chance that the child will be healthy too. For my #3 she has been in perfect health since she was born 11mths ago.

What I wanted to convey was the concept that health is not always a result of doing all the right things. It is a gift. Of course doing the right things, such as breastfeeding contributes to better health than otherwise would be the case. Even breastfed babies get sick. And sick babies need breastmilk too.
