Lovely to have Company

The boys playing a game together

Scissors, Paper Stone!! Let’s see who gets to hit the other person’s hand first.

Looking at the boys having a go at this game reminded me of the days back in my childhood where I too love playing this game with my sister.  It was a great way to pass the time while waiting for the bus to arrive when we were out. The boys too love playing this game when we  have to kill time waiting.

The only difference now is that with three of them it is a bit more complicated as it is harder to determine who is the winner and there is a high probability of the boys ganging up against their sister during the game.

Many times I will have to intervene and call for a time out if one of them starts complaining and even crying for being “bullied” during the game.

Rushing for kiddy rides when we are out is one of Tiger girl’s favourite activity. I remember the boys too being crazy over such rides when they were her age.

My mum constantly reminds me that I too was equally fascinated over kiddy rides at her age and would go from one to the other if I had the chance to.  My sister and I would drain all the coins she had in her purse in the process of getting our dose of fun.

Nowadays  the price of a kiddy ride has increased ten fold from $0.20 to $1.00/2.00 for certain rides.  I have been extremely reluctant to let them go on such expensive rides  and they would bug me non-stop for it.

To make it more budget friendly to me, the kids  are only allowed to go on rides which can either  accommodate all three of them at the same time or take turns. The other alternative is for them to  go on them without me placing any money in it to activate it.

It’s really interesting to know that the kids too do enjoy the things that I used to love when I was a kid.

How was it for you and your
own siblings growing up?

Highlights of July 2014

Another month has just zoomed by and the kids have been back in school for about a month now.  Everyone is back to “School mode” and there has been quite a lot of surprises that happened this month.

First of I manage to complete blogging about our holiday to Hong Kong  last month. It was a fun but tiring trip due to the hot weather. Maybe in the future if it is possible we will schedule our next trip in December instead where it is cooler.

Playing at  an Arcade is certainly a lot of fun. The kids had quota filled with three trips to the arcade during our vacation.  Talk about playing to the max!!

Since the trip to the Hong Kong Science Museum  I have been doing quite a lot of thinking on how I have been living my life so far. The decisions that I have made and  how I aim to live a more purposeful life.

I shared about the 10 Underlying Principles to follow and how I am working towards a better relationship with all those around me.

July was a month of surprises which were both sweet and bitter.

It was great to receive positive affirmation from Monkey boy.  It’s one of the confirmations that I get from the kids that they appreciate what I have been doing for them and the family these few years.

I was also glad to meet up with some of my ex-classmates which I haven’t seen for the past 20 years since high school at the recent Alumni dinner.  I manage to re-connect with a couple of secondary school classmates and it was great to see that they are doing well and enjoying their family & work life.

I started a new series on the blog You & Me = US where I explore more in-depth the feelings and thoughts that I have been having.

Health is an issue that one should not take lightly.  Healthy eating and having more greens and fruits is certainly on my agenda.

This month we received the unfortunate news that R’s grandmother passed away. She was 96 years old and had been staying in an old folks home for the past few years due to ailing health.  We were sad to see her leave us but we know that she is in a better place now and free from the bodily pains that she used to suffer.

How was your July like?
