Yummy Treats

Soft boiled egg and tea

Soft boiled egg and tea

The past few weeks I’ve been eating out quite a bit since R was back in town. He missed having Kaya Toast and soft boiled egg as  it is not readily available where he is working.

The kids and I have been having such breakfasts quite regularly as they too love Kaya Butter toast for breakfast. The only different is that they rather drink a glass of ice milo as compared to tea or coffee.  It can be really very filling  for breakfast.

I try to have a light lunch these few days as I have been eating/feasting too much. We have been having holidays nearly every week and eating out with the kids hasn’t been good on my dieting attempt.

Salted Egg Pasta

Salted Egg Pasta

V and I went to try this dish at a cafe in Jurong. Initially when we started eating it it tasted rather good. However halfway through the dish is started to feel extremely  uncomfortable  as the taste was too “rich”.  If the portion was half the size or maybe if they didn’t make the sauce less “thick” it would have tasted better.

I ordered this dish for Tiger girl when we were at the park two weeks back.  It was rather tiny and pricey as I was expecting a bigger piece or even two pieces of waffle for the price we paid.  Even though the dessert wasn’t that much Tiger girl didn’t manage to finish it and I had to help her with it. I guess not having strawberry ice-cream made the dish less appetizing for her.

What have you been eating lately?

Our family of 5

Our family of 5

Last year I celebrated my birthday with the kids and we had Mooncake as a birthday cake. This year I had a different type of celebration.

Cycling at the Park

Cycling at the Park

We decided on taking the kids cycling at the park as  they haven’t been to the park in a long time. This time Tiger girl is able to join us cycling and everyone had a rented bicycle each to pedal on.

Wefie with R

Wefie with R

R flew in for the weekend to spend time with me and the kids. We were able to  spend some couple time together and did what we haven’t had chance to do for a long time- watching a movie together.

We watched Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation at  a newly opened cinema in Clementi.  Watching movies in the neighbourhood area is certainly nice.  There were  ample seats for selection and we  were able to get good  seats for the movie less then 30 min prior to the screening of the show on a Saturday afternoon.

The latest installment of the Mission Impossible show pales in comparison to the previous installments of the series. Both R and me found the story line rather weak and much too violent for my liking.  ( It was certainly not a show I would like the kids to see.)

Korean BBQ is something which I enjoy eating and I had the chance to savor  the BBQ meats with R over the weekend.

NLP workshop

NLP workshop

It was a busy birthday weekend for me as besides shuttling the kids around for their weekend classes R and I attended a NLP workshop  and learned more about how one’s mind works and how powerful a tool it is.

It is all in the head. What you perceive does affect your outlook of live and how you conduct yourself. Having a growth mindset is certainly liberating and the way to go if one wants to have a balanced life with continuous growth.

NLP is certainly a subject which I will be looking into when I get the time to do so.

At 37 I find that I am not focused then I was last year .Even though I have more on my plate at the moment I’m happier and more contented with how life is now.

How did you celebrate your birthday this year?
